Second Grade News You Can Use

April 27th-May 1st, 2015

A Note From Mrs. Graham

I am sure you have heard that we are now the proud parents of painted lady butterfly larva. Our pets arrived in a mysterious box on my desk on Wednesday, the 22nd. We were in the middle of reading groups when Mrs. Spray set the box on my desk. It caused many anxious conversations as I would give no hints nor would I open it until we had completed our groups. Finally, we sat down with the unopened box to ask yes or no questions to figure out this mystery. Finally, we deduced that it was something alive and needed to be opened and cared for immediately.

Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

Our story is about Ezra rebuilding the Temple.

Chapel is on Tuesday because of our testing this week. Join us at 8:00 if you can.

Math, Social Studies, and Science

We will be reviewing for our testing with some whole group review, game playing, and center work focused on skills which need to be revisited.

Reading and Writing

We are reading to meet our AR goals as time permits. We are finishing up our written reports on our animals. We are also reading Charlotte's Web together as our spring read aloud.

One thing your child may need help with this week is to write down the web site addresses used to find information about their animals. Also, if a book was used, I will teach them how to site their sources if we have the book and websites used.

No new list words. We will do word work with previous words but there will not be a spelling test this week.
