Teaching and Learning Continues!
As you likely know, teaching and learning across several of our educational settings has been impacted by student and/or staff outs due to COVID and the flu. Last week, as we walked through classrooms, some had all students there while others had less than half of the students present. Further, some classrooms were fully staffed with our teachers and TAs while others had guest teachers or staff filling in where they were most needed. Such is life during Omicron and flu season!
What we want you to know is that our teachers are working hard to adjust curriculum where necessary when several students are missing, and ensuring that all students present are able to move forward with their learning. It's a juggling act for them for sure! Our teachers who are out are sending in their lesson plans to promote forward movement with teaching and learning too. All of your help at home with students quarantining is appreciated. We are grateful as you keep reading with them, practicing math facts, and having rich discussions to support concept and vocabulary development. Your partnership continues to be critical to your student's success! Please keep engaging with your child's teachers to best understand how you can support the learning at home.
Check out the pictures below taken last week that highlight just a fraction of the learning taking place at NIS during specials. Here is the specialists newsletter link for even more information about what's happening in specials: NIS Specials Team Newsletter

Vaccine Clinic January 29th
Hello NIS Families,
Are you aware that if your child is fully vaccinated (2 weeks after the 2nd dose) they are exempt from having to quarantine if they are considered a close contact from school or from home. If vaccinated, your student will most likely have a milder case of covid and stay out of the hospital.
We are having another Vaccine clinic on January 29th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at NES cafeteria. Below is a link to make an appointment. Pfizer 1st, 2nd and booster shots available for anyone 5 years or older. All community members are welcome.
Appointments for Clinic on Jan 29th
Please send me an email (smalln@npsk.org) if your student is already vaccinated. If you already have sent one, Thank You!!!!

No Birthday Food Treats Please
We would like to encourage you to donate a birthday book to your child's classroom library in honor of their birthday. Other acceptable ideas include bringing in a special pencil or decal for everyone in the class if that's preferred.
Thank you for not sending your child to school with food items for the class to celebrate their birthday.
