Arroyo Seco Jr. High School -- May 13, 2022

Principal's Message

Hello Seco Families,

Our next PAC meeting is this Monday, May 16, at 8:30 am via Zoom. See below for more information.

Please remind your children about following all traffic directions as well as the instructions of adults on campus, including the crossing guards, on their way to and from school. This is a concern especially when students are leaving campus. Encourage them to stay on the sidewalk and out of the lanes of traffic and not to engage in pushing or horseplay, in order to help ensure everyone's safety. Please also remind them to be respectful of our neighbors and their property.

We have completed two weeks of the CAASPP testing and have one more week to go. This next week, May 16-20, students will be testing in their Math classes. Please see below for more detailed information.

Have a great weekend.

Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments

The CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) and CAST (California Science Test) will be given at Arroyo Seco from May 2 through May 20. We will follow our usual bell schedule and students will take the tests in their academic classes:

May 2-4 ELA Computer Adaptive Test (in History classes)

May 4-6 CA Science Test (in Science classes)

May 9-13 English Performance Task (in English classes)

May 16-20 Math Assessments (in Math classes)

During the weeks of testing, please help ensure that your child attends each day on time, gets a good night sleep and eats a healthy breakfast. Try not to pull your child out for appointments, etc., during these times. Please encourage your children to do their best and to not be anxious; the tests are simply a tool to help them learn. You will receive your child's results at or before the beginning of the next school year.

To learn more about the tests, please go to ca.startingsmarter.org or cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/parentguidetounderstand.asp. You can also contact Ms. Francine dos Remedios at fdosremedios@hartdistrict.org or at 661-296-0991.
