Welcome to Washington!
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Washington staff is excited to welcome all new students and families to Washington this year! We recognize that this school year will look differently and that you may have questions and concerns about it, even after our start this week. We are here to ensure that your transition to Washington is as easy as possible despite the challenges we face.
There's been so much information coming your way over the past month, but especially the past two weeks. Our team has collected a variety of resources and pulled them together in this New Family Special Edition to make reviewing them a little easier for you. Click on the New Family Welcome Presentation.
At some point in September, you will also be receiving a call from Maggie Smith, our school social worker. Ms. Smith oversees the transition of new students and families to Washington to ensure we are meeting the needs of all families.
We are looking forward to getting to know you all better and working with you all to find creative ways to make the school year the best it can be. We are all in this together!
Sincerely,
Joe Russell, Principal
Maggie Smith, Social Worker

Sodexo and Breakfast/Lunch Program
Hello WSD Families,
Last week, we sent a communication regarding changes to our food services processes for the 2020-21 school year. You can view the contents of that communication here.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved an extension of a waiver that allows us to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students enrolled in the Wauwatosa School District through December 31, 2020. This means that all students enrolled in the District - either via Phase Into Learning, Tosa Connected or Wauwatosa Virtual Academy - will have the opportunity to get breakfast and lunch for free, regardless of eligibility. Students are no longer required to have funds in their account to receive meals.
The approval of this waiver does not change the process that students and families must follow to order meals on the days a student is not learning in a District building. Families must still complete the appropriate form to purchase meals for all students in their household for the full five-day school week for those enrolled in Tosa Connected or Wauwatosa Virtual Academy. Those families who are in the Hybrid/Cohort model will place orders for the three days they are learning asynchronously.

Please note that the form must be submitted each week, at least 24 hours prior to meal pickup. And finally, you can view breakfast and lunch menus for the month of September here.
