Distance Learning in TVUSD

TVUSD continues to move forward with using technology to find innovative ways to connect

with students, teachers, administrators, and parents. After you check out the latest video above, check out the additional collection of photos, comments, and videos from our teachers and administrators. We had an outpouring of submissions so there will be many more to share in future updates.

New - Student Code of Conduct for Distance Learning

The code was created to address adverse student behavior in our new learning platform. We recognize that although our classroom environment is virtual (online), the standards of behavior are as important as they are in brick and mortar schools. In other words, our distance learning opportunity classrooms are real classrooms with real teachers and real students. Therefore, appropriate student behavior is expected. A high sense of personal honor, respect, etiquette, and integrity is expected from all TVUSD personnel and students participating in distance learning. To ensure that all TVUSD students understand how to positively interact in an online virtual environment, we developed a code of conduct that addresses student interaction with faculty, staff, and other students, as well as their individual actions. Congratulations TVUSD 20/21 Teachers of the Year

Three More TVUSD Schools Receive California SILVER Green Ribbon School Awards and TVUSD Receives District GOLD Award

SACRAMENTO—State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced last week that 25 schools and eight districts earned 2020 California Green Ribbon Schools awards. “Congratulations to this year’s honorees,” said Thurmond. “California Green Ribbon Schools expertly use local approaches to tackle global issues such as sustainability and environmental literacy. Students are not only learning and practicing environmental stewardship but also sharing those sustainable practices with their families and in their communities.”

The application process and maintenance of green schools is a huge undertaking and everyone involved is to be commended for their efforts.

Reminder - Year End Activities Decisions Coming After May 1, 2020

As shared in last week's update, TVUSD has set a date of May 1, 2020, to make decisions about TVUSD’s districtwide graduation and promotion activities and we will communicate those decisions shortly thereafter. As always, we continue to thank you for your patience and understanding while we continue to evaluate this important decision in consideration of county, state, and federal guidelines and recommendations. Our priority is to address the needs of the current school year and bring it to a successful closure. However, please be assured that leadership is actively reviewing plans and options for the 20/21 school year.

School and District Contact Resources

Remote contact services for school and department staff have been set up for easy access. Just click on the Contact the School or TVUSD graphic located on every school and the district homepage. You can call, text, or submit an online request for assistance. Staff will respond within one business day.

Reminder About Contact with School Staff During Meal and Device Pick-up

Under the current Public Health Order of the Riverside County’s Health Officer, “all persons, including essential workers, shall wear face coverings, such as scarves (dense fabric, without holes), bandanas, neck gaiter, or other fabric face coverings.”

In order to protect the health of our staff and community members, all are asked to use an appropriate face covering and maintain social distancing when making personal contact with TVUSD staff. This includes picking up instructional material(s) and receiving meal service.

Enrollment and Registration For New and Returning Students

Due to the required closures, TVUSD has moved all enrollment and registration processes online. Enrollment for the remainder of the 19/20 school year can be completed now. For the 20/21 school year, new student enrollment and returning student registration will begin after May 1, 2020, online. Click here for the enrollment website.
