Chi Omega Parents Newsletter

University of Iowa - February 2016

Hello Chi Omega Parents!

This past month has been very busy for the ladies of Chi Omega Psi Beta. On February 5/6 we had over 85 members participate in Dance Marathon where they spent 24 hours without sitting, sleeping, or caffeine to provide support to pediatric oncology patients at our very own University of Iowa Children's Hospital. We raised $95,261.85 and beat the previous record for sorority fundraising! Here is a picture of some of our members meeting one of the kiddos they dance for.

Top in Grades!

Chi Omega was awarded the highest sorority GPA on campus having an average of 3.367. Our new members were also awarded highest GPA for any new member class.

This makes 13 consecutive semesters Chi Omega has been top in grades, you have some hardworking daughters!

Mom's Day Baskets

A note from our Philanthropy Chair on the Mom's Day Baskets:

The auction items are always a great hit at Mom's Day and a great way to get involved and donate to our event! Some ideas of previous auction items to help get an idea of something you would like to donate are jewelry, handbags, and a beach themed basket. There are so many other options so feel free to get creative! If you plan on donating, please describe your auction item on the invite card you send back. We would like to get your auction items as soon as possible and at latest of the week before Mom's Day, so please discuss this with your daughter so that she can bring your donation to the Chi Omega house. We also have a parents club raffle for items smaller such as gift cards and chi omega tshirts. You will be able to purchase raffle tickets before and after brunch.

Feel free to email Jordan Wheeler with any questions at

How to Get Involved

If you would like to be more involved fill out this survey with what you would be interested in volunteering at (if you have already filled this out you do not need to do it again). Also, you are more than welcome to join our Parent's Club and help plan events for our chapter with other fun parents!

Parent's Club

Our organization will help our daughters in the Chi Omega program by assisting the chapter with special projects, organizing events, fundraising and financial support, and volunteer efforts. Our group will ensure that the chapter receives the support necessary to help our Chi Omega women continue to stay focused and continue to be leaders in the University Campus and community.
