Reason for Imperialism
What led to Imperialism?
Racism and social Darwinism contributed to Imperialism. Countries had the desire to expand territory. Britain had several clashes with France fighting over territories. Missionaries wanted to convert people to Christianity. New inventions made communication better. Countries wanted power and money and more than other countries.
When? How? Where?
Industrial Revolution gave European nations the ability to colonize Africa. In 1670 Britain imperialist ambitions were well off. Britain used indirect control and relied on local rulers to govern the nation. Britain imperialized American colonies, Canada, Indian Subcontinent, Southern and Northern Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
