SFE/NW Food Service Updates

August/September 2021

Please click here to electronically fill out and sign the 2021-2022 CEP Household Survey. Each family must fill this form out in order for NWCS to maintain eligibility for the free breakfast and lunch programs.

It’s an exciting time for students and families, and as the beginning of the school year quickly approaches, we want to extend a warm welcome back to school and back to the café! SFE and Northwest Community Schools are eager to welcome you and your student back to the school café with new flavors, events, and wellness education that will surely inspire a healthy and fun 2021-2022 school year!

For the 2021-2022 school year, Northwest will be participating in the Seamless Summer Option of the National School Lunch Program, which means that all meals (breakfast and lunch) will continue to be free for every student in the district. Additional food items, as well as milk, will be available for purchase a la carte.

We kindly request that you still complete the Household Survey’s. This helps our district with additional funding and can qualify you for additional savings as well. You can find this survey at www.nwschools.org

SFE has been working collaboratively with the district to determine what plans will fit best for each school regarding a safe environment to serve meals. While the logistics and location for how meals will be served could continue to look different, students, staff and parents can have peace of mind knowing that our plans are rooted in the most stringent health and safety practices aligned with federal and state regulations, along with local health department recommendations. All SFE foodservice associates have participated in COVID-19 specific training and follow all protocols and procedure in place by Northwest Community Schools.

Northwest will continue to use NutriSlice, SFE’s online menu system, which provides daily menus, nutrition, and allergen information. If your student has allergies to any foods, a letter must be submitted to your school’s health office, and we will work with you to take all precautions available to secure your child’s safety.

The food service team remains committed to excellence. The goal of our program is to provide high-quality, nutritious, healthy, and well-balanced meals to all students. As always, your input is encouraged and appreciated. Should you have any questions or concerns, or want to provide feedback, please feel free to contact your General Manager of Foodservice, Patrick McKee, at Patrick.Mckee@nwschools.org or 517-817-4691.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to a successful year!
