Thank you to the greatest counselor team around!! They ran a perfect STAAR week. So much work goes into planning this crazy week and I want to congratulate them on a job well done.
I also want to thank every person involved in STAAR. (so, everyone) It takes everyone pulling together to make this happen and people certainly get stuck with less than glamorous jobs. Everyone was "all in" this week and I appreciate that so much!!
Jeans for the remainder of the year.

Phishing
Phishing is when a scammer uses fraudulent emails or texts, or copycat websites to get you to share valuable personal information – such as account numbers, Social Security numbers, or your login IDs and passwords. Scammers use your information to steal your money or your identity or both. The technology group sent an email Monday from IT asking for password updates, and 467 MISD employees put in their protected info! SCARY! You should NEVER give out that info!!

A member of our McKinney ISD family, David Brown, passed away on Monday, May 13th.
David touched many of us with his positive outlook during his time at MISD and we wanted to share with you some information.
In addition to the Celebration of Life service on Saturday, May 18th, 11:00 a.m. at High Pointe Church of Christ, there
is a visitation scheduled on Friday, May 17th at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
We would also like to share that if anyone would like to donate a gift card or money for the Brown family, we have started a collection.
If you or anyone at your campus would like to donate, please collect the gift cards or money at your campus and bring them to our office by Friday, May 24th.
*Sandra will collect for CMS if you would like to contribute something. I will make sure our school is represented no matter what.

Kudos!
We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and willingness to do whatever was asked during STAAR. (Especially those of you that gently reminded us about things that could easily slip through the cracks.) Special thanks to Teri and Elizabeth. These two ladies end up giving a lot of STAAR tests during this season, and are always willing to help...and do it with a smile. Not only that, they make the kids in their small groups feel comfortable and at ease. Please know we really, REALLY appreciate your positivity during a time that is not the most fun! -Courtney, Christal and Felisha
I want to compliment Sara Gray on her teacher breakfast last Friday. It was so moving to hear the students appreciate and honor some amazing educators. There were some truly heartfelt words spoken by students to the teachers. It is always nice to be reminded of the good at this time of the year. She is busy navigating three preps, and she still had time to put on a great event! -Courtney
I am on a roll, so one more thank you. Much of what we do in our office is behind the scenes. There is the paperwork and the STAAR prep, but there is also a steady stream of kids with a variety of things they want/need to talk about. This past year, there were two new counselors added to the team...brand new to the counseling world. Christal and Felisha stepped in and have done such a great job. They have handled it all seamlessly - I am lucky to work with them and continue to learn from them. Their heart and love for students is contagious! -Courtney
Mr. Harp,
I want to say thank you for all you have done and have been for our children over the last 4 years, 6 years collectively. Both girls wanted to be in your band class each year because of who you are and how you care about your students. You have a way with middle school kids that simultaneously pushes them and makes them think it is their own desire pushing them forward. That is an attribute not easily come by for most people. Neither girl ever hesitates to tell people how much you mean to them and how important you have made band to them. She has even said if you were teaching band at Boyd, she would continue. In fact, there wasn’t a week that has gone by these last 4 years that one of the girls didn’t say, “Mr. Harp said…” or “Mr. Harp” this or that. Always good, usually funny stories from class.
As a parent, I cannot express just how deep my gratitude runs for you and your leadership of my girls over their middle school careers. Of course, we want them to succeed, even excel, in academics, but there are life lessons they need even more. How to work hard, be a friend, accept criticism, etc. I have appreciated how you have held them accountable, all while never being unkind toward them. I have appreciated how you have made them feel accepted, quirks and all. You are definitely an educator that all of us educators should emulate in building relationships and helping kiddos reach our high standards.
It is going to be strange not having a child in your class next year. I hope you have a wonderful, much deserved summer and the 2019-2020 school year is one of your best yet!
-Happy Parent
