*FSG Training Opportunity*
October 2019
Mental Health First Aid
In partnership with the BBC, FSG is investing in Mental Health First Aid training for its Security Staff.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for 16 staff members to receive this professional training on a very important subject. FSG is keen to add this to its existing support network in order to improve wellbeing and mental health for all of our colleagues.
The course which qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, provides:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix
Format
This is a two day, face-to-face course across four manageable sessions (dates and location to be confirmed). The learning takes place through a mixture of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan.
This is a fully funded course and those who are selected will be allowed paid time off to attend the sessions.
Takeaways
Everyone who completes the course gets:
• A certificate of attendance to say you are a Mental Health First Aider
• A manual to refer to whenever you need it
• A quick reference card for the Mental Health First Aid action plan
• A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health
Selection
As there are currently only 16 available spaces, FSG will need to give preference to its main Operational Hubs given this is a training course designed to benefit and support the wider workforce. However, we want to encourage all staff, who are interested, to apply because serious consideration will be given to all applicants. If you would like to be considered for this training opportunity, please contact terry.havard@interserve.com making this known and you will be entered into a pool for selection. All applications must be submitted by Friday 18th October 2019.
Good luck with your application!
