Walkathon!!

The rain did not stop us from having a great time with our walkathon today! We had to adjust our plans a little, but the kids still had a great time! Our second and third graders were able to go outside for a little bit, but their time as cut short from the rain. We reschedule the rest of the grades for the afternoon inside. They were able to walk in the cafeteria and ended with a dance party! A huge shout out to our walkathon committee for all of their hard work! We were able to raise a total of $14,200 for our school! This money will be used for new computers for grades 3-5 and for our school initiative committee's. Thank you to all of our families for their support! Check out the pics below for some of the fun we had!

STEAM with Pre-K!

Our pre-k students have been working hard in STEAM class learning about their five senses! They have done many hands on experiments such as taste testing, trying loud vs soft sounds, and exploring sight with magnifying glasses and binoculars. They finished their unit by making their own books to take home. Next up they will study apples, leaves, and pumpkins in STEAM class!

Enchanted Forest Book Fair

Our fall book fair is coming up! We are going to have a CHANGE WAR between classes to raise money for ALL FOR BOOKS. The money raised will help to buy books for children who otherwise couldn't afford them. As an added incentive, the class that raises the most money (class average) will get to keep 100% of their money raised to buy books for their classroom! The CHANGE WAR will begin on Monday, October 8th and end of Wednesday, October 17th. Please send in your loose change or bills to help others and Alward. Thank you!

You can also pre-order copies of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Meltdown. Pre-orders need to be turned in no later than Thursday Oct. 25. The book is $8.99 plus tax so the total is $9.53.

Please see the attached order form below.

PLEASE VOTE!

On November 6, voters in each of the public school districts in Ottawa County will be asked to consider an enhancement millage proposal of 0.9 mill for 10 years. Please see the attached flier below for all the details on how important this is for our district!

Count on Me-Alward Students and Staff Making a Difference

This year, our students and staff are working on taking initiative to make a difference in the lives of others. If you hear about how an Alward student, teacher, or staff member made a difference in someone else's life, please fill out the Google Form below. We will be posting these "Count on Me" sightings on our new bulletin boards right outside the main office. Students, parents and staff members can recognize others for things as simple as someone always saying hello to them or holding the door for them. We can also recognize others for going as far as helping out in the community. We want to know how our students and staff are making a difference at Alward and out in the community and celebrate these acts of kindness this year! Thank you for taking the time to support this "Count on Me" initiative this school year!
