HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our wonderful Sand Creek families!
We sure do appreciate all of you and are so grateful for your continued support in making our school community so awesome. Enjoy the next three days off and we will see you again, ready to learn on Monday, November 28th.
FUNDRAISER UPDATE
We sincerely thank each of our Sand Creek students and families who participated in our PTO's Fall Fundraiser. We are pleased to share that our chocolate bar sales raised over $19,000 of profit for Sand Creek, and direct donations raised over $4,000 for our school. What an amazing effort by our school community. Winners were randomly drawn from the pool of participants, for incentives, and here they are:
Ride to school in a fire truck (CRFD): Xavier Overacker-Shaffer, Gr. 4
Ride to school in a police car (CRPD): Max Mazurek, Gr. 5

FIRE PREVENTION POSTER CONTEST
Sophia Narr Wins for Sand Creek
Not only did Sophia Narr win for Sand Creek in the Fire Prevention Poster contest (sponsored by the Coon Rapids Fire Department), she won CITY-WIDE, with the best poster from all Coon Rapids elementary schools! Congratulations goes out to our fabulous 4th grade Star!
LOCAL TV ANCHOR VISITS THE CREEK
AJ HIlton, a local news anchor from WCCO, visited the 4th graders at Sand Creek last week to read a story, tell his story, and to encourage our Stars to follow their dreams. Here is a video clip of AJ sending shoutouts to our 4th graders, our teachers, and Mrs. Coe for setting up the visit. What a great experience for our 4th graders!
ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE DEC. 6-9
Please join the Sand Creek Elementary School community in donating items to the annual Sand Creek Food Drive. Sand Creek Stars and their families have been proud contributors to this important event for over a decade. Please consider helping local families in need this holiday season. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! SCE Annual Food Drive Flyer
-- GR. 5 BUTTERBRAID FUNDRAISER
The 5th grade Long Lake Trip is scheduled for the end of April 2023! After several years off due to Covid, our 5th grade students will be restarting this 45-consecutive year tradition. They are selling these yummy desserts as a way to lower the cost of the trip for all students. With the cold weather and holidays coming up, Butterbraids make great treats for the family!
SCHOOL CLOSINGS: WEATHER
The safety of all students is the first priority when determining if schools should stay open in extreme winter weather. The decision to close school is a serious one, and it affects many working families who would have to take a day off of work or find day care on short notice. Here is a link to the district website for more protocols about weather related decisions.
NO SCHOOL 12/2 & 12/5
Students do not have school on Friday, 12/2 as teachers will be preparing report cards for the 1st Trimester, and Monday, 12/5 due to professional development opportunities.
HOLIDAY SECRET SHOP 12/10
Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 10th as our PTO is hosting the annual Holiday Secret Shop for our Stars, from 9:00-11:30 in the gym & cafeteria. It's a fun Saturday morning with treats, photo opportunities with the "big guy in red," and a chance for our students to secretly shop for gifts for family members. Look for more information coming soon!
