December Family Newsletter
๐๐๐๐December 2022๐๐๐๐
Welcome
Dear Tiger Families,
Happy Holidays to each of your families. We are so fortunate to be in a community that blends many traditions during this time. This is also a great time for teaching our students how to be kind, show compassion, and be generous to others. Too often, we go about our daily lives forgetting about how truly fortunate we are.
Lastly, on behalf of the DCPHW staff, we would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season.
Please be sure to read through the newsletter in its entirety.

Attendance Awareness
Regular attendance at school is critical for a childโs educational growth and achievement, and our team is committed to your childโs success.
Our average attendance for the month of November was 83.40%.
Our goal is 100% every day!
As we enter the month of December, We are coming to a close on our attendance campaign. The school with the highest attendance % will win a gaming truck for the day!
Let's continue to push for 100%!!
Updated Pickup Procedure
If your child participates in any after-school programs we updated our pickup procedure.
When your child's program is over, they will no longer be released outside.
Parents will need to come to door #2 and sign their child out.
We made this adjustment because the safety of our students is our #1 priority
IREADY Winter Diagnostic
Beginning December 5-December 23rd, students will begin to take their winter IREADY diagnostic in both reading and math. It is imperative your student is present- our goal is to test 100% of our students.

Social Media Safety
Research suggests that young people who spend more than 2 hours per day on social media are more likely to report poor mental health. The use of social media increases the likelihood that your child will be exposed to cyberbullying.
Tips to support Social Media Safety:
1. Make sure to monitor your childโs social media profiles.
2. Check his/her phones regularly for texts and posts.
3. Monitor your childโs contacts
4. Control your childโs device to ensure they donโt have access 24/7.
5. You are a role model, be sure to show your child how to use social media appropriately.
**Tech Tip: How to turn off group texts
- Go to settings app on your Apple Device
- Select Messages
- Scroll to SMS/MMS section and disable group messaging
