Principal's Letter
Dear Lake Windward Families,
My goodness, we have had A LOT going on the last week or so at LWE! On April 14th, we welcomed our upcoming "KinderGators" during our LWE Kindergarten Roundup. Over 50 families came to learn about kindergarten life at LWE. I can honestly say, I am super excited about this sweet, smart group of children starting their journey with us in August! If you have friends or neighbors who are planning to send their kindergarten child to LWE yet missed our K Roundup, please encourage them to visit our LWE website for more information on how to get registered (or see graphic below).
Friday night was our PTO sponsored Spring Carnival and it was a blast!! We were blessed with a beautiful evening outdoors, and the families who got to come experienced lots of fun games, activities, food and fellowship. I heard over and over again from students and parents as they were leaving that this was one of their favorite events ever hosted at LWE! I want to say a special thank you to Mrs. Desiree Foy-Fisher, one of our PTO board members, who organized and led this event. She and her team of volunteers worked tirelessly to put together a fun, family night for our school community and their hard work certainly paid off! We could not provide events like this without volunteers and support of our PTO financially. So, thank you to ALL of you who do!
This week our fabulous PTO volunteers are hosting Teacher Appreciation Week. Our LWE Staff is grateful for the wonderful week of activities displaying appreciation for the work that we do. Thank you to Mrs. MaryKaye Pepperman for leading her team of volunteers and providing such a fantastic week of special recognition.
Our 3rd-5th grade students begin Georgia Milestones testing next week. I know they are ready and are going to showcase all they have learned by staying focused and doing their absolute best during testing! I am already so proud of our students and teachers!
Kind regards,
Julie Morris

Is your child leaving Lake Windward?
Please help us prepare for the 22-23 school year by letting us know if your current Kindergarten through 4th grade student will not return to Lake Windward Elementary in August. The withdrawal process is easy. Simply email the completed withdrawal form (attached) to Janet Adams at AdamsJ2@fultonschools.org.
There is no need to re-register returning students.
A Note From Our School Social Worker
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Thriving families depend on strong support systems. Support can come from family, friends, neighbors, and others in the community. Learn what it takes to invest in families. Together we can strengthen families and prevent child abuse and together we can make it easier for families to access support services and learn how to identify and build on family strengths. By providing all families with equal opportunity and access to the supports they need, we can help improve the safety and well-being of children and youth across the country. Visit the National Child Abuse Prevention Month website for more information.
