PACE Referrals Due!
IT’S PACE REFERRAL TIME for Kindergarten – 5th grade
Referral due on October 21, 2022 at 5 pm
PACE provides services for students who require academically gifted enrichment services and have demonstrated the need for advanced, differentiated instruction. PACE at the elementary level is a weekly pull out program in which students leave their general education classroom to work under the guidance of a gifted specialist. The time spent in the PACE program will vary according to the grade level of the student.
We assess referred students in the fall. Kindergarten – 5th grade students placed in the PACE program will begin PACE in February 2023. If you would like to have your child assess for PACE placement please fill out PACE Referral Packet, which is online at https://www.pisd.edu/giftededucation and submit it by 5pm on October, 2022. If you have questions please contact Sherre Shafer at sherre.shafer@pisd.edu or 469-752-3184. The referral link also has detailed information about the PACE program, just scroll down. If you prefer a paper copy of the referral form please contact Sherre Shafer.
'Dads and Kids' Pizza Night, Free Pizza, Drinks and Fun This Thursday, 9/22!
We are excited to see all the men and their children that sent in the yellow RSVP last Friday this Thursday, September 22 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm for our first annual ‘Dads and Kids’ Pizza Night at our school cafeteria for free pizza and drinks. At 6:30 we will have a presentation about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program. WATCH D.O.G.S.® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
*There will only be enough pizza for the adults and children that sent in their yellow rsvp last week.
PTA School of Excellence Survey, We Need Your Help
The Shepard PTA knows that a strong partnership among our families, school leaders and community members is important to the success of our students and school. That’s why we are participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.
We need your help! As part of the process, National PTA requests feedback from families, administrators and teachers at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. Your feedback will help us improve our family-school partnership and achieve excellence.
Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete the survey below.
