MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
59th Edition: January 19, 2018
Pilgrims on the Way of Truth
Today, many of our theology classes were able to live-stream the March for Life event that is taking place in Washington, D.C. Our very own Pro-Life Club commemorated this event as well by creating a "Wall of Remembrance," using crosses to represent all the precious lives destroyed by abortion every year. We cherish all life, and pray most ardently for the protection of all unborn children. We could not be more honored to have so many students who have dedicated their efforts to this cause, and we wish all who are attending March for Life strength in knowing our prayers carry them throughout their journey.
And we are just getting started! As you'll see below, Marian Central is truly the hub of many wonderful activities in the coming weeks! Tomorrow (Saturday) we are hosting the Great Lakes Fencing Tournament here at Marian! We also are rooting for our Dance team as they compete in their 1A Sectionals at Sycamore High School. We also have FIVE students who have earned positions performing in the 42nd Annual McHenry County Honors Band concert tomorrow at 2:00 pm at Woodstock North High School. Our very own Mr. Rome has also been given the esteemed honor to conduct this county-wide band in the National Anthem - a special honor recognizing and celebrating his upcoming retirement at the end of this school year.
We are absolutely blessed to host Chris Stefanik this week for his acclaimed ReBoot tour! Also - if you're still working on cleaning out your closets as part of your New Year's resolution - we will be hosting a COAT DRIVE in the coming Catholic Schools' Week!
Finally, ticket sales for the Winter Dance will go on sale this coming week during all lunch periods. Please encourage your student to purchase tickets early in the week to avoid the inevitable long lines Thursday!
We hope this newsletter finds you all well, and we wish you a wonderful weekend!

Attention JUNIOR PARENTS: PSAT/ACT Information!
Junior students should be bringing home their paper PSAT results along with a power point explaining the scores. Please look over that information and do not hesitate to call the student's counselor with any questions. More information regarding scores and access to PSAT online scores is available at: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/scores
In addition, we are linking you to the ACT Registration Information sheet that is being handed out to all Juniors to have when registering for the ACT. Watch the deadlines for ACT registration, as those come up quickly and we cannot guarantee spaces at Marian Central for our students. Any student (from any school) may select Marian Central as their testing location, as we are a designated testing site through ACT.

Doing any DRESS SHOPPING?
WINTER SEMI-FORMAL (Jan. 27th) Our young ladies typically wear cocktail length dresses. PLEASE help your daughter select a length that is appropriate! It's very important that the hemline is no higher than mid-thigh. Young men wear suit/tie - but often forego the suit-coat.
PROM -FORMAL (April 27th - Juniors and Seniors only) Gowns and Tuxedos are the typical attire for this event. Again, with dresses, since there are so many selections out there - it is important that our school's conservative attire is respected.
Society (and the media) may be tempting our young men and women to dress and behave far beyond their age - but we have to do our best to protect the age they actually are. Thank you for always partnering with us in this effort to prepare them for adulthood, while still honoring and protecting their age.
We hope you find this Semi/Formal Dress Guideline helpful!
