FSD3 to Offer SMS Text Messaging Option for Communicating with Stakeholders
Florence School District 3 is excited to announce the launch of a new service that will enhance communication by allowing us to deliver important information to you via SMS text messaging. This service is not intended to replace our existing means of communication– rather it will enhance them.
The SMS feature will launch on October 5.
The service is provided by Intrado SchoolMessenger Solutions. Information can be found at www.SchoolMessenger.com/tm. The district will only use the service to provide information that is timely and relevant.
In order to participate in the new service you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your phone. The process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete.
Simply text any one of the following words to the number 67587: subscribe, optin, yes
You’ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply message: You are registered to receive aprox 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.
You’ll want to repeat the opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you wish to include.
In addition to performing the opt-in process above you’ll want to ensure that the district has your wireless number(s) in our student information database. If you haven’t already provided that information to your school please contact them and provide them with that information.
The district will be officially launching the new service in approximately a month, so until then you won’t receive any further text messages.
Please note, although the district does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the communications office at communications@fsd3.org.
Mock eLearning Day Set for Sept. 24
Florence School District 3 will hold a mock eLearning Day for all students on Friday, September 24. Instead of attending school in-person, students will complete at-home learning packets or assignments in Google Classroom.
All assigned work for the mock eLearning day is standards-based and will be graded. Students will be marked “present” is all assignments are submitted by Wednesday, September 29.
Teacher office hours will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Students in grades 4K-6 will have assignments either in paper packets or in Google Classroom. Students in grades 7-12 will have assignments in Google Classroom only. Parents should contact their children’s schools if they need to check out a device for Google Classroom assignments. All assignments will be downloaded in the event of issues with internet accessibility.
FSD3 has been selected by the S.C. Education Oversight Committee as part of the eLearning cohort for the 21-22 school year. ELearning days will be used to extend learning into the home on scheduled make-up days due to inclement weather or other unusual disruptions to the regular school day. On eLearning make up days, students will not report physically to school, but will complete regular assigned classwork virtually, with teachers available for contact during virtual office hours.
