Absence Reporting
If your child has any symptoms (including non-Covid symptoms), the only way to report the student's absence is by using this link. You will need to complete this by 8:30 a.m. anytime your student will be absent because of illness. If multiple students from your household will be absent due to illness, you will need to complete it once for each student. This link is available on the Lakeview website as well as in this family newsletters. This will help us be more responsive to you, our families, with our Covid protocols.
The link for absence reporting will stay on the Lakeview homepage as well as in the family newsletter each week.
If your student is not missing school due to symptoms (for example, a dentist appointment or a family vacation), please continue to call the Lakeview office directly.
4K Registration for 22-23 is now open
To be in 4K next year, the child must be 4 years old on or before September 1st. All day 4K is available at all four elementary schools and half day 4K is available at Blakewood. Although it is not "first come, first served" our 4K programs will fill up quickly, especially the all-day 4K programs. So it is best to get your registration in right now instead of waiting.
Here is a link to the information about 4K registration, along with the links to register. All incoming 4K students are registered as "new students" (rather than "adding a student to your family).
Contact Lakeview if you have any questions about 4K registration for 2022-2023.
This Week's Golden Lions!
There were 30 Golden Lions awarded to students since our last newsletter. Here are the descriptions for each of those Golden Lions. Our students demonstrate GREAT character at Lakeview!
• As we were continuing to work on typing our sticky notes from writing into our literary organizer, Caleb helped one of his classmates type his sticky notes, too. Caleb recognized that his classmate could use a little extra help, and without a second thought he stepped in to help. Thank you for being so aware and for being willing to help your classmates. Thank you for helping to make our classroom a great place to be!
• Jaliyah shows she is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the pink cards. Congratulations Jaliyah!
• Jaliyah shows she is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the green cards. Congratulations Jaliyah!
• Henry shows he is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the green cards. Congratulations Henry!
• Nathan can rote count to 120 and has met our end of the year counting goal. YAY!
• Emilio can rote count to 121 and has met our end of the year counting goal. YAY!
• When Ameerah found someone's winter hat lying around the classroom, she immediately brought it to me so it could be returned to its owner. Thank you for your kindness, Ameerah! That's the Lakeview Way!
• Cooper did a great job of staying engaged in his work when there were distractions going on in the room. You did the absolute right thing, Cooper. Keep it up!
• Lily did a great job of staying engaged in her work when there were distractions going on in the room. You did the absolute right thing, Lily. Keep it up!
• When Peair found a bracelet on the floor, he brought it to me and suggested a student who he thought it might belong to, since he knew that the student sat near where he found it. He turned out to be right! Thanks for showing kindness, Peair. Keep it up!
• Vivvy is like a college student! She takes notes during Math class to help her remember what we are talking about! She does this all on her own and I'm so impressed!!!
• Brady has been working hard on his literary essay graphic organizer. He has thoroughly searched the book for text evidence to support his thinking. Now he is going back to reread his organizer with the goal of pushing his thinking further and adding more thoughts to his organizer. His hard work and engagement is going to result in a strong literary essay. Way to go, Brady!
• At the end of Reader's Workshop yesterday, Raymond approached me and said, "Do you want to hear a summary of the book I read today?" He continued to tell me about the main character, the problem, and the solution. Way to be engaged in your text, Raymond! Summarizing after reading a text is a great way to give ourselves a comprehension check.
• While walking our the door at dismissal, Ahmed was helping a friend by sticking his water bottle in his backpack. What a kind gesture! Keep it up, Ahmed!
• During Math this week, Lorenzo worked hard to solidify his understanding of the multiplication algorithm. Not only that, but he then helped to teach a friend how to do it as well. That is true leadership. Keep it up, Lorenzo!
• Stella was so kind in music when she encouraged another student to do their best job practicing our concert songs. Great job Stella!
• Madden has worked really hard on composing his literary essay. He has stayed focused, using his literary essay organizer, to guide him as he works. He has asked for help and for feedback as he has been composing to help ensure he is on the right track. Way to be so engaged, Madden!
