Board Meeting Details


The May 3rd special board meeting was held both on site at the District Office and remotely via Zoom. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, only 10 people were permitted inside the boardroom at any given time, observing proper physical distancing and wearing face coverings. Members of the public could listen/observe the meeting by logging in to a designated Zoom webinar. For open/community participation, a laptop was set up in the District Office to accommodate live public comment. The district also created a dedicated voicemail line for public comment.

1. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.

2. Approval of Meeting Agenda

The motion was approved.

3. April 6, 2021 Consolidated Election Results

President Begley announced the results of the spring 2021 election involving the DPS 109 Board of Education that saw Sari Montgomery, Andrew Morrison, Kelly Jakymiw, and Maureen Wener elected.

4. Seat Board Members/Oath of Office (Policy 2:80)

The four newly elected Board members took their oaths of office.

5. Adjournment Sine Die

Many board members and Superintendent Simeck shared messages of thanks for outgoing board members Scott Kluge and Katie Bittner.


The meeting was adjourned and re-convened with the newly constituted board.

6. Appointment of President Pro Tem

Nick Begley was appointed as President Pro Tem.

7. Appointment of Secretary Pro Tem

Sari Montgomery was appointed as Secretary Pro Tem.

8. Election of New Officers (Policy 2:210)

Mrs. Montgomery was elected as Board of Education President.

Mr. Begley was elected as Board of Education Vice President.

Mrs. Wener was elected as Board of Education Secretary.

ACTION ITEMS

9.1. Approval of 2021-22 Board of Education Regular Meeting Dates (Policy 2:210)

The 2021-2022 meeting dates were approved.

The board will be emailing Mrs. Montgomery their committee preferences this week and then those will be established and publicly communicated.
