STARS Classroom News

January 19th - January 22nd

What Happened Last Week!

We continued our winter theme. We continued to read our anchor book The Mitten. We continued to label/identify the animals in the story and to sequence it. The students worked on answering questions about the story and about the differences/similarities of the animals in the story.

What Will Happen This Week!!

We will start our polar bear/penguin theme this week. Our new anchor book will be Polar Bear, Polar Bear What do you Hear? We will work on sequencing our story, which animal comes next. We will also label/identify the animals in the book. We will look at the similarities/differences between the animals in our story which helps to be able to group the animals by different features that they have.

Matt and Molly

Molly is Cold

We will answer questions about the story. We will also try to sequence the story. Our Matt and Molly stories have four parts and they are numbered one through four. This helps the students to sequence them in the order that they happened.

Things to work on at home:

Let your children try to zip their coats and backpacks.

Let them try to put on their clothes.

Ask questions; some what, where, and who; and some yes/no questions

Ask questions about how things are similar and how they are different.
