Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences at Centennial High School will take place virtually on:

  • Wednesday, December 16 from 4:30-8:00pm

Conference slots are available through teachers directly through Microsoft Bookings. If you have not heard from your student's teachers regarding setting up a Parent/Teacher Conference appointment, please use the STAFF page on the CHS website to contact them directly for a link.

Conferences are scheduled for 10 minute slots, will take place for 8 minutes each and will only take place virtually via Microsoft Teams or over the phone. Time slots are available on a first come, first served basis so sign up today!

Here are some tips to make the most of your conference:

  1. Look over schoolwork.
  2. Talk with your child, bring a copy of their schedule (see template below).
  3. Make a list of questions.
  4. Arrive a few minutes early.
  5. Talk about the specifics of your child in class.
  6. Stay calm.
  7. Ask the most important questions first.
  8. Figure out next steps.
  9. Update your child after the conference.
  10. Follow up with teachers after conferences.

November Students of the Month

Administration went class to class on Tuesday and Wednesday with a candy cart available for our November Students of the Month. Remember Patriots...NO wristband, NO reward! Get those SOTM wristbands ready! Admin. is looking for them!

Speech & Debate

This past Saturday the Centennial Speech and Debate team competed at the 2020 "Holiday Havoc" held online (formerly at Columbia High School). Junior Ainsley Dinger represented the Patriots and made her varsity speech competition debut! Ainsley placed 11/24 speakers with her Informative Speech about assassination attempts on Adolf Hitler. Ainsley also competed in Impromptu Speaking! The Centennial Speech and Debate team will take a momentary pause for the holiday season then will resume competitions in January. GO PATRIOTS!


FFA Sheet Drive

Sheet Drive: The Meridian FFA Chapter (which includes members from the 5 traditional high schools in our district), is hosting a sheet drive now through December 18th, 2020! We would love your help collecting NEW Twin sized sheets, pillows, and pillowcases for Sleep in Heavenly Peace! If you or any of your students would like to participate in this- please send them to Ms. Ball’s room 113! This is our winter community service project, and we want to make sure that 'no kid sleeps on the floor in our town'!

Idaho Strong

During these challenging times, spread the word that help is available, and that it is OK to ask for help! One resource available to educators and all Idahoans to help cope with stress and connect with help is the Idaho Strong COVID Help Now Line. Picture My Future Art Contest

Idaho students in grades 7-12 are invited to share their dreams for the future by entering our “Picture My Future” art contest! Submissions can be made online by midnight on Jan. 22 or by mail (postmarked by Jan. 19). Check out the contest rules here: https://www.sde.idaho.gov/events/future-art-contest/

"This has been a particularly challenging year for students and families throughout Idaho, but hope for the future still burns brightly, and I look forward to seeing how students envision life after high school,” says Superintendent Sherri Ybarra. “The goals and creativity of Idaho students are truly inspiring as they look toward the future they will shape.”

The winning artwork will be posted on our website and shared with Idaho legislators during Superintendent Ybarra’s budget presentation to the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee. We can’t wait to see all the entries!

Meridian FFA

The Meridian FFA Chapter hosted the Creed Speaking competition for all five West Ada high schools on November 30th, 2020. Only freshmen are eligible for this contest. Kylie Shingler took home 4th, Sammy Llewellyn came in 2nd, and representing CHS and Meridan FFA Chapter at the Boise Valley District FFA contest in February is Anja Morgan who placed 1st! Way to go ladies!

Career & Technical Education

Are you interested in a hands-on career? College of Western Idaho (CWI) offers comprehensive training in just 9-24 months. Programs include: Automotive Technology, Computer Support Specialist, Early Childhood Education, Heavy Equipment Technician, Welding and Metals Fabrication, and many more!

Emails from college representatives from across the country are coming in DAILY! They want to meet YOU and share information about their schools, including the application process. All visits are virtual and most begin at 3:30 PM. Invite your parents to join the meeting too!

Girls in STEM presented

Attention high school girls: Take an hour out of your day to join a discussion with female STEM professionals from MICRON Technology. Bring your questions, or just plan to listen in on an informative session where you will hear personal experience about the path from high school through college to a career in a STEM field.

Discussions will be the first Monday of each month.

BSU - Sophomore Start

Freshmen and Sophomore students at CHS can participate in the Boise State University, Sophomore Start Program. It is designed for a motivated student who can maintain a 3.0 GPA and who would like to earn 30 college credits while still in high school. Students can utilize Fast Forward Funds to pay for these college credits. This can be a great opportunity to enter college as a Sophomore for students who are planning to attend Boise State. A dedicated advisor will work with the student throughout their participation in the program.
