Davis Intermediate School Library
Yearly Report 2017-2018
Vision Statement
About the Davis Intermediate School Library
We met our goal this year of increasing our readable nonfiction to support Science, Math, and recreational informational text reading, while weeding out books with outdated information. This is a goal we will continue. Also, we successfully increased current fiction selections to incorporate more options, meeting the need of the ELA Balanced Literacy Initiative.
Participation in clubs and events in the library increased this year, as we added Maker Mondays, more seating for Sack Lunch Sessions, and a new Digital Badging System. Students were able to make and create on Maker Mondays after school, listen to a read-aloud at lunches, and prove what they know by earning badges.
We focused on Digital Literacy in the classroom and library as students are now 1:1 with chromebooks. Our system of training our campus teachers, Davis Chromebook Camp, was presented at the Texas Library Association Conference in April. Davis teachers are truly techie!

LOOKING AHEAD...
Students are encouraged to be Summer Readers and Summer Leaders! We hope to see them reading and participating at the Smith Public Library and extend the community of readers beyond our walls!
We will be reallocating our computer lab into a full-time Makerspace. Science classes will rotate in each month for lessons and have the ability to send small groups in throughout the days to explore, create, and invent!
At Davis, our library is an extension of the classroom, so we adapt and change as we see student's curricular, instructional, and enrichment needs!
