Each Junior should have received an email from the College Essay Guy to register and create your account! Once you do so, you will find detailed courses with step-by-step guides for brainstorming, structuring, and revising essays with videos as well as written lessons. We love College Essay Guy's advice and we know you will too!


You will have full access to three online courses:

How to Write a Personal Statement

How to Write Your College Application + Supplemental Essays

How to Answer the UC Application Prompts


These courses feature modules that contain written information as well as extremely helpful videos. We highly recommend that you go through each course from beginning to end for the best results. Please note that the How to Answer the UC Application Prompts course is specifically for students applying to California schools.


College Essay Guy also offers many free resources on his website, such as his blog and his podcast. Take a look - the more you know, the better your essays will be! Here are a few articles to get you started:

An Evening with Will Heininger

New Date and Time: Tuesday, June 16 | 7 PM


Please join us to hear the impactful mental health story of Will Heininger, former defensive lineman for the University of Michigan football team. As a college athlete who struggled with depression, Will has made it his professional and personal mission to raise awareness and shatter stigmas surrounding mental illness. Today, he serves as the Outreach Coordinator at the UM Depression Center. Hear Will’s personal story and learn how you can support yourself or someone you know who may be struggling with mental health challenges.

Dear Prospective Students and Families,


Michigan State University and the Honors College are committed to connecting to prospective students and their family members wherever they may be! We have organized a few upcoming opportunities this summer so anyone interested can learn more about the opportunities for high achieving students at MSU:


Informational presentation and Q&A (All times Eastern)
Wednesday June 16th from Noon to 1:00 PM
Friday June 26th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM

Weekly "drop-in" office hours with HC Admissions Staff (All times Eastern)
Each Thursday in June and July from 4:00 - 6:00 PM
All that is required for these events is an internet connection - students and their families can log on from any internet browser and join us. Once there, we will be able to answer questions and talk about a variety of topics that may be of interest to them: Honors College admissions, housing options, scholarships, and more. Any guest can join us simply by clicking the links above at the specified date and time. If you are unable to attend, recordings are available upon request.
