51st Annual Basketball Tournament

After a two year absence, the ADL Basketball Tournament is making a return. This will be the 51st year of the event. We begin Wednesday February 22nd and finish with the two championship games on Saturday February 25th. Although this is a basketball tournament, it is so much more of a community event.

Six Chittenden County Schools participate in the four day event which shows off our ADL and Essex Junction Community. Our students volunteer, play, perform, and most importantly are members of our Dawg Pound in the bleachers of the gym. It is truly an event that can’t be explained in words. Although this video gives an overall feeling of the tournament, It is an event that needs to be lived by our students and community. Please check it out, ADL 50th Bball Tournament .

ADL students and community will always play a huge role in the atmosphere of the week. We start off with a pep rally on Wednesday with our student body being highlighted as well as a game between the faculty and our 8th graders. After the pep rally the tournament starts with three games each night. These games are filled with the energy that is the envy of any middle school. Spectators can be seen hanging out near the concession stand, watching the action, and following Stebbs lead with the cheering in the Dawg Pound. The week comes to a conclusion with the championship games on Saturday night. Throughout the week, spectators will be treated to our band in the stands, chorus singing the National Anthem, and our students playing in a variety of games beyond the basketball games.

Before the tournament we sell Dawg Pound tee shirts and advanced tickets. The advanced tickets are only sold to our ADL students, and are good for all four days of the tournament. A single night ticket is $3, and the advanced ticket is $10. The Dawg Pound T- shirts we sell are a great way for our students/community members to show their support for our school. We sell the shirts for $12. To purchase advance tickets or Dawg Pound shirts, please see Mr. Barber before Wednesday the 22nd. After this date, same day tickets can be purchased in the gym lobby each night for $3 and the Dawg Pound shirts will be on sale during the tournament. Coming to the tournament is a great way to see our school community at its best. We look forward to seeing you the week of February 20th.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kevin Barber, kbarber@ewsd.org.

Brownell Library News

Come to Brownell Library on Friday, March 10, from 4-5 to eat pizza and volunteer your time with the Teen Advisory Group to make the library a better place! This month, preparations are underway for our teens-only open mic happening this April. Teens who came last month chose some fun assignments to have ready and will spend time working on them at this meeting; if you weren't there then, still come and you'll get a chance to weigh in on the set-up, decorations, food -- as well as make some important decisions about our April meeting! Come make this event the most fun possible, and spread the word about the opportunity for teens to perform and watch a live performance.
