Caldecott, Poetry, and Super Dads!
March and April 2016
Upcountry History Museum to Host Caldecott Illustrator
Ask our Monarch Marathoner K-3rd graders about Caldecott and they can tell you all about the award given to one book each year for distinguished illustrations. This is why I am excited to pass along that the Upcountry History Museum will host the Caldecott-award winning artist, David Small, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. Click here to find out more.
Real Men Read
Monarch Elementary School hosted a Real Men Read Event in the Media Center for K-2nd grade classes April 11-22nd. We appreciate all of the dads that were able to stop by and share their love of reading. Click here to see a slideshow from the event.
April is Poetry Month
Shel Siverstein, Jack Prelutsky, Jon Scieszka, Sharon Creech. Check out their poetry in the library or pick up a poem by another famous poet from our bulletin board for your pocket before the end of April to celebrate this genre!
May the 4th Be With You!
Star Wars Day is Wednesday, May the 4th. It may be a great day to check out one of Tom Angleberger's books from his Star Wars spoof chapter book series. We will have a guest wandering around the library that day that has often found himself in pivotal moments in galactic history. Hmm. .
