Let's Get Flexible!
Tip: Start Small
- Carpet- allow children to use a clipboard to write while laying on their stomach. This position is known to strengthen their core while also improving their motor skills (you can also use yoga mats or bath mats to lay on)
- Tables- lower the legs so children can sit on the floor while working at the table
- Standing Desks- adjustable for differing heights
- Standing Tables (raise the legs or invest in bed risers to raise table) to allow for more collaboration and/or movement for children who have a difficult time sitting/standing still
- Throw Pillows- can be used to sit on at tables with shortened legs
- Milk Crates- Can be used as a seat but also double as storage!
Flexible Seating at Franklin!
Even More Options
Ball chairs (large exercise balls)
Wobble stools
Bean bag chairs
Kids beach chairs
lap desks
Scoop rockers
tables vs. desks
*Supply storage- you might want to have supply bins for each child in a central location rather than storing materials in desks-- this is for those teachers that decide to go "all in" and remove desks from classrooms! (ahh!)
*Don't ditch all of the desks! Some children may continue to work best at this location! Not every option is right for every student.

Snipping Tool
How do I get it?
- Click the windows icon on the bottom left of your screen
- In the search bar, type snipping tool
- Click the icon
- Click "new"
- Click & drag your mouse along the part of the screen that you want to screenshot
- You can copy OR save this picture to your computer!
Extra Tip: If you right click the Snipping Tool icon and then click pin to taskbar , the icon will be stored to the bottom taskbar on your desktop. This makes it easier to use without searching for it each time!
