STEM Students of the Month
7th Grade - Bryson Burgess
Bryson is a wonderful kid who is always looking for ways to solve problems in his group. He is a great leader and totally willing to jump in and “figure it out”.
8th Grade - Sarah Drori
We did a three-day lab and she was a really strong leader throughout the process. In ELA, Sarah has really stepped up to the plate on her writing projects and never "just phones it in".
9th Grade at GHS - Simran Shrimankar
Simran has been super-supportive of her STEMposium group while researching and writing their papers. She has really carried her group, helping them to organize and structure their research and complete tasks on time.
9th Grade at CHHS - Jiawen Qin
Jiawen is at outstanding STEM student at Colleyville Heritage. She is one of the hardest working and most thoroughly prepared students in the CHHS STEM program, and she consistently scores near or at the top of her class on almost every assignment. In fact, in English, she was so dedicated to expanding her vocabulary that she got more than four times as much Membean practice as was required. She excels similarly in all of her other classes, and she is a terrific team player who has a very humble and easy-going nature.
10th Grade - Alex Gutierrez
Alex is always asking thought-provoking questions, and he is quite the problem solver! He is a hard worker; likewise, he encourages other students in his class to be more motivated in their academics as well. That is why we would like to recognize Alex as a person who embodies questioning and identifying problems. Way to go, Alex!!

STEM Teacher of the Month - Kate Adams
Getting to know Ms. Adams:
What do you love about CHHS?
- Colleyville Heritage High School is the B.E.S.T. high school because we have P.R.I.D.E. Pride to us means personally reaching and inspiring discovery in everyone. What I love about my campus is that we are supported and encouraged to think outside of the box and do whatever we need in order to make sure that all students have a chance to inquire and discover exciting new things.
What is your favorite free time activity?
- In my free time, you can find me either watching Netflix, reading a book, or playing with my nieces.
- My favorite part about teaching STEM is the flexibility for the students to drive their own learning. They are encouraged to think for themselves and
- Lawyer for sure. For my whole life, I have been told that I would have been a great lawyer. I have a way of persuading people to do what I want, and I don't often lose arguments.
- I was homeschooled until college.
- I love my students SO much. Since I don't have a husband or children of my own (yet), I like to think of my students as my kiddos. There is NOTHING I would not do to help them be successful.

November's Habit of Mind - Listening and Empathy
Each month in STEM our teachers will focus on a different skill. These skills are some of the most important skills that students can learn for future success. The resources below are just a few things that you can do at home to help your student learn more about these valuable skills. As always, a simple conversation with your student about how you use the skill in your career can go a long way.
