A Note From the Principal...
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break and that you all have plans for family time over the upcoming Holiday Break! December will be filled with many events for students and their families! We will have concerts, a book fair, sporting events and more. Please make sure to add all of the events found throughout the newsletter to your calendar.
We would like to give a special thank you to the mom's group who organized a meal for the staff on October 26th! Everyone appreciated the soups and other goodies!
Last month we held the first PAC (Principal Advisory Committee) for the 2022-2023 school year. We will be meeting again on Monday, December 12th at 3:30pm in room 169. This meeting will include information about recognition for Student of the Month/Caught Being Good/100% Club/Other PBIS Rewards. The 8th grade is looking to show an educational movie on December 21st and is hoping we can get parent support for snacks. Mrs. Klaus also wants to do a reward for all 1st semester Colt Bingo honorees. We will do an update on our Military's Connected Youth and we will have time for parent questions and suggestions. All parents are invited to join.
This coming Monday students will be starting "Move This World" which is a new curriculum to cover the Social Emotional Learning Standards (SEL) from the State of Ohio. The program is based on the CASEL framework which includes Responsible Decision Making, Self-Management, Self Awareness, Social Awareness, and Relationship Skills. More information about the program can be viewed at www.movethisworld.com. Each month we will be sharing more information on this program and what students are doing. This month we have included a page on "What is Social Emotional Learning." Students have already been doing SEL activities and lessons during Advisory or their SEL time which have included organizational skills, how to send emails, how to use a calendar, personal attributes, examining skills and strengths, discovering your learning style, interviewing skills, and respecting others. We are excited to be incorporating even more activities into what we have already been doing!
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
