Bus Expectations
We intentionally plan for our youngest riders (4K and K) to sit in the front so that the bus driver can keep a closer eye on stops and ensure that our youngest riders are enjoying the bus ride.
It is the responsibility of our older students to model appropriate bus behavior. Please communicate with older students the importance of modeling appropriate behaviors.
Below is the policy related to Transportation.
School Bus Rules (Policy 8600)
The Board will provide transportation services to
and from the school for all district pupils who are eligible
during the regular school year. Resident pupils shall be
eligible to be transported to a public school if they live
two or more miles from their school. Other eligibility will
be determined by the Board for reasons of unusual
hazard or special education classification, assignment,
or needs.
Pupils who ride the bus or are on a bus under
school sponsorship (field trip) must comply with the
district’s Bus Rider Rules. Pupils riding the bus shall be
under the authority of the driver of the bus. Disorderly
conduct or persistent refusal to submit to the authority of
the driver shall be sufficient reason for a pupil to be
denied transportation. Parents will be notified by the
school if their child has not followed the standard rules.
More information regarding bus rules is available from
the transportation office at 262-970-1150.
If your child reports an incident to you, then please communicate the concern as soon as possible. This assists in handling the incident quickly and in a manner to pro-actively prevent future incidents from occurring. You can communicate your concerns to the bus driver or the school. A thorough investigation of the incident will occur to determine the most accurate reporting of the incident.
Please be aware that bus matters will be taken seriously. Consequences to not following the bus rules could include the following and repeated bus incidents will not be tolerated.
- Assigned Seat - temporary or permanent.
- Removal from the bus - temporary or permanent.
Safety First!
Throughout the year we take time to practice multiple safety drills. Monthly we participate in one of our four drills. Our drills include the following: Fire, Tornado/Shelter, Lockdown, and Lockout.
There are additional measures that we also take throughout the typical school day to provide the safest learning environment possible. Your assistance with our practices is greatly appreciated. First, our doors are locked throughout the entire school day. We ask that you buzz in through the front door and please don't be offended if we ask your name and purpose for the school visit. Please do not be offended if we ask for identification once you are at the office. Additionally, please do not hold the door open for another individual. Let them buzz in so that we are aware of who is coming into the building. We pride ourselves in knowing our school community, but if we are not familiar with an individual then we will ask for identification.
Also, please let the office know if a different family member will be picking up a child for an appointment or any other reason. We like to know who is picking a child up if it is not the parent or guardian of the child. Again, please do not be offended if we ask for identification. Our goal is to make sure that everyone is safe and that we are taking pro-active steps to ensure safety of our children.
It is also required that you stop in at the office to check-in with the office staff. Please do not just head down to the location that you would like to visit or go. In most cases we (the office) will most likely be able to assist you and get a message or deliver whatever is being dropped off to the student. We would like to prevent as much disruption to the teaching and learning environment as possible. This goes for volunteers as well. We are so happy that we are fortunate enough to have so many volunteers at Rose Glen and appreciate your help in modeling our safety practices.
The end of the day is a busy time for the office. If there are changes in pick-up, then please let the office know ASAP. We know that there might be times when a last minute change is necessary and that life happens. This is more than understandable. Please call at least 2 hours prior if at all possible to notify the office of changes. Additionally, your child should be using Walkers Circle if they are consistently being picked up from school. Please avoid using the front entrance as this is a high traffic area for our school at the end of the day and a busy time of day as well. If you must use the front entrance then please remain in the foyer.
Sock Hop - March 2 - 6:30-8:00 pm
Rose Glen kiddos and families are going to have a rootin' tootin' good time at our annual Sock Hop!
Enjoy music, dancing, food, friends and fun. Western themed novelty toys will be available for purchase. $1.00 per person, $5.00 max per family. Adults supervision required.
Parents - sign-up to help! Help with concessions, ticket sales, set-up and clean-up. If we don't have enough volunteers, the event will be cancelled. This is a very busy event that we can't pull off without the helpers! Thank you in advance for your help.
"Jump Rope for Heart" Update
Rose Glen students and families have been doing a fantastic job raising money for the American Heart Association. We have just a couple of weeks left before the fundraising will be completed. Our students have raised over $10,000 through online donations. Last year, $12,750 was raised online and a total of $17,506 was raised! Does your employer offer a matching funds program? Remember this is a great way to increase your child's donations and Rose Glen's overall fundraising total. Please be sure to contact Mr. Mosley with any questions!
"Jump Rope for Heart" Information - Please read carefully! NO CASH PLEASE!

Please pay special attention to Fundraising directions below:
The entire month of February is committed to the fundraising portion of our Jump Rope for Heart event. Although its the end of January, students can begin their fundraising now if they wish rather than wait until February. Students should bring home two items related to fundraising:
1. Fundraising Envelope: The fundraising envelope should have all the student information completed including name, grade, and homeroom teacher. Please be sure that t-shirt size is clearly marked so if your child raises enough money to receive a shirt they get the appropriate size. Please note there are youth and adult size options. The fundraising envelope also shows the "thank you" gifts the American Heart Association provides for students in ACKNOWLEDGING the student's help in raising money for them. Most of these thank you gifts are received in March or early April.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO MONEY SHOULD BE RETURNED TO ROSE GLEN UNTIL THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 20th.
Students can return their fundraising envelope February 20th through the 24th! Please be sure all checks are made payable to: American Heart Association. Also, please be sure NO CASH. All cash should be converted to a check payable to American Heart Association.

Flu Information
Dear Parent or Guardian,
As you may be aware, there has been a significant increase in the number of flu cases reported in the community. Please review the attached fact sheet on influenza for information regarding symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.
If your child has a fever of 100.0 or greater, please keep your child home from school. If
the fever goes down after receiving fever- reducing medication such as Motrin or Tylenol, the child should still not come to school. The student must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medications, prior to returning to school.
We ask that you please report influenza like illness to the school office promptly.
Thank you for your cooperation with this matter as we try ensure the health and well-being of everyone in our school community.
Sincerely,
The District Nursing Staff
