Teamwork
Counselors Corner
This month we will be working on academic responsibility in all grades. Academic responsibility looks different at Kindergarten then it does in 5th grade, but everyone will be working on goal setting. Setting goals are best done using the SMART method. Whether it’s an individual goal, or a class goal, students will be able to recognize steps they need to take to reach their goals!
SMART Goal Method:
S-Specific (1 thing)
M-Measurable (My goal may be to read 50 wpm)
A-Attainable (Appropriate for me)
R-Realistic (I can achieve it in the time allowed)
T-Time Bound (Days or weeks)
Nurse News
We have had an increase in illness (fevers, coughs, sore throats, viruses) at Windsor over the past week or so. Please be mindful to keep your child home until they are fever free for 24 hours. Here are some thoughts on what to do during this last (hopefully) rush of winter:
-Please remind your child to use good hand washing and to cover their coughs with their elbow.
- Take your child to the doctor if they have a sore throat with a fever, appear to have any difficulty breathing, or if your child has a high fever and appears lethargic.
- Encourage your child to drink extra water and to get a lot of extra rest.
- Cough drops are OK at school, but please have your student give them to the teacher for safekeeping.
- Water bottles are OK at school, just remind them not to share drinks and spread germs.
- Opening a door or window to let fresh air into your home for a little bit can do wonders!
- I am happy to examine your child and help with any questions that you may have, but you may want to consult with your doctor’s office for guidance on what to do as well.
Thank you!
Spring is on its way!

Internet Safety
Dear Windsor families:
There are rumors being reported in the news media about the latest internet hoax, called the Momo Challenge, encouraging children to harm themselves or others.
Here’s what is important to know. Cyberbullying and other internet dangers are nothing new. This isn’t the first attempt to frighten children, and it won’t be the last. So rather than being afraid of this hoax, we encourage you to talk with your child about internet safety:
- Be smart. Don’t talk to strangers online.
- Don’t accept messages or friend requests from people you don’t know.
- If someone online suggests you harm yourself or others, or threatens harm to you or someone else, tell an adult right away.
We suspect this hoax will be fodder on social media, as well as in the news media, for several days and will then disappear, like the creepy clown scare in 2016. However, it is a good reminder to be aware of what your child is looking at online and make sure they have the tools to deal with a problem if one arises when you are not by their side.
Sincerely,
Mr. Nichols
