FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Mustang Families,
Last week we passed a huge milestone with all of our students and staff back together in the gym for a school wide assembly. The sense of community was felt by all. We welcomed and honored the veterans from our community with an unforgettable music program put on by our music teacher Mrs. Wilson. The students were truly amazing and were so proud of their performance.
Montessori News!
Along with members of our Montessori team, I was able to attend a Montessori conference hosted at Geiger Elementary in Tacoma. We were able to connect with other Montessori programs in Washington and across the country. It was wonderful to be able to attend the conference and be energized by the conversations and learning.

M.E.D. Drill
On Wednesday we held our first Move, Evade, Defend (M.E.D.) drill of the year. Staff and students did a good job taking the time to talk through the scenario and the purpose of the drill. We take our safety drills very seriously and practice them every month. Following each drill, feedback is provided to our Safety Team so we can continue to make improvements.
Thank You Monroe Voters!
While some ballots are still left to be counted, results currently show that 52% of Monroe School District voters approved the renewal of the School Program & Operations Levy, guaranteeing local support for our students through 2026. Thank you Monroe community for renewing your support of our schools!

COVID-19 PROTOCOL
COVID remains a prevalent illness and it is important that we all continue to do our part to help our students and staff remain healthy and safe this school year.
To continue to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in schools, the Washington State Department of Health has released updated COVID-19 requirements for K-12 schools.
If your student is exhibiting symptoms while at school, testing is available. A new consent form needs to be filled out each year. You can find the Student Covid-19 Testing Consent Form here (english) (spanish)
PARENT SQUARE
We are excited to let you know that this year we’ll be using ParentSquare to communicate with you about our school including newsletters, events, reminders, and more. Note: ParentSquare may not be used by all classrooms as it is optional for teaching staff to use but will be the main source of communication for school-wide information.
You should have received an invitation email or text to join ParentSquare last Friday. If you haven't already, please click the link to activate your account. It is easy to do and takes less than a minute.
You can use ParentSquare on any device. You can download the free mobile app for iOS or Android or use the desktop version at www.parentsquare.com.
Our goal is for every family to join ParentSquare and engage with our school community this year.
STAFF STAR OF THE WEEK
This employee will be the “Star” for two weeks. A staff member will be drawn every other Friday. A picture and information will be posted on the bulletin board near the front office.
Staff members will be able to leave sweet notes or a shout out on the bulletin board.
Next week we honor Audrey Purvis, as one of our awesome Teachers here at Maltby.
