Principal's Message/ Mensaje de la directora
Dear Hoover Community,
I hope you have stayed dry during these rainy weeks. We have been busy getting ready for the end of trimester 2. I can not believe we are two-thirds into the school year. Before you know it, the end of the school year will be here.
Conferences are coming! Please take this time to review your student's goals and prepare to meet with teachers. They will be held from March 20th-24th. Please remember that they will be released early all week. (Thursday Schedule) In this round of conferences, teachers will be meeting with specific families unless the parents request to have one for their child.
CONFERENCES
March 20th - Nov 24th
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Please mark these dates in your calendar. Conference time is a space created for the critical adults in the life of children to discuss their progress, ask questions, set goals, and collaborate towards student success. Your input as a caregiver is invaluable in their development.
Suggested questions to ask during conferences:
- How do you best prefer to communicate? (Email? Phone? Text? Notes?)
- What do you see as my child’s strengths?
- What do you think are the academic challenges for my child?
- What would you do if my child were struggling academically with something?
- How is my child doing with their assignments?
- How do you support kids in their social development?
- Is my child on grade level for reading? What about math, science, and writing? How can I help?
- How will the school handle state testing and prep this year?
- Can we talk more about your homework policy and how my child is doing with homework?
- What can I do at home to support what you are doing in the classroom?
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to volunteer.
Warm regards,
Lupe Guzmán
Principal

Women's History Month 2023
Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions to American history.
Did You Know? Women’s History Month started as Women’s History Week. Women’s History Month began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women planned and executed a “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978. The organizers selected the week of March 8 to correspond with International Women’s Day. The movement spread across the country as other communities initiated their own Women’s History Week celebrations the following year.

Dress Code
Thank you for ensuring that your child is following the dress code. Unfortunately, I have seen a decrease in the number of students who are wearing them. Please continue to help us ensure that the dress code is being followed. Should you need to have additional uniforms, you may contact the Family Center, or contact Ms. Ixchel Baltazar at ibaltazar@rcsdk8.net.
