Service Day Opportunities
We are all looking forward to Service Day this Wednesday, December 18. Among our 15 offerings, sessions include information about the Campaign for Change, Red Bucket Rescue and Climate Change. Students may learn about personal mindfulness practices, becoming a reading coach, and the many qualities of leaders. Activities will include painting a buddy bench for the kindergarten playground, decorating our bathrooms with inspiring messages, creating a human rights book for our library and playing an empathy game. Please feel free to join us as a volunteer. The special part of our day begins in the MPR at 8:30 AM and finishes at 11:30 AM.
Sycamore students from Girl Scout Troop 5604 will be presenting as a part of Service Day. They are inviting everyone to join them in supporting Red Bucket Equine Rescue, an organization that cares for abandoned and injured horses. Families are invited to donate gift cards to stores such as Lowes and Home Depot or to donate cleaning supplies or towels. Donations can be brought to the office anytime before Friday, December 20. Please join in!
Sixth Grade Outdoor Science School Parent Info Night-January 9
Monday to Friday, March 2-6, our sixth graders will have the opportunity to attend the long-awaited Outdoor Science School (OSS) at Arrowhead Ranch in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. OSS provides students with an exciting week of hands-on experiences related to the natural world and a good deal of fun as a sixth grade group. On January 9, we will hold a meeting for the families of our sixth graders. During the meeting, we'll provide information about this experience and the process of fundraising and donating so that all students can attend (regardless of any family's ability to donate). Please make plans to attend the meeting on Thursday, January 9 at 6:00 PM in the MPR.
Update on the CUSD Network Outage
Thursday afternoon, the process of restoring internet and network service began at Sycamore. Though email service has now been restored, messages sent between November 20 and about December 9 were not and will not be received by staff. If you emailed any CUSD staff during that time and have not heard from them, kindly email again to get a response. We apologize for any inconvenience. As was mentioned in a Blackboard message from CUSD on Friday evening, restoring service to all sites is still in process. We will keep you posted as we go. Again, we appreciate your understanding and patience.
