Ms. Fegan's First Grade Newsletter
March 22, 2024
Our Week in First Grade
In phonics, we learned about the phonograms -all, -oll, and -alk. We read words with these phonograms in isolation and in stories. We practiced a lot of writing, and getting back into our usual routines after spring break. I was quite impressed with the students' ability to get right back on track after spring break! Please be sure to look out for stories to read at home.
In math, we finished our lesson about adding tens, and moved on to adding two digit numbers. In this lesson, we practice addition problems such as 42+3, 25+31, etc. Next week, we will introduce regrouping.
In social studies, we completed a group research project about various symbols of the United States. The class has been working hard with their group members to research the symbol, and began presenting them today. Next week we will finish presentations, and begin a writing project about their favorite one.
Have a great weekend!

Bring books for kids aged 6 - 12 and know that they will go to a great new home! Last year the Bookmobile made stops at 36 local schools and gave away over 50,000 books.
