Nashville General-Meharry Market

Good Food for Good People - The Produce Prescription

How does it work?

Good Food for Good People gathers the best seasonal and local food available and presents it market style for all community members to enjoy. SNAP cards as well as debit and credit are welcome. Discounts are offered based on need - real simple screening on site - folks can pre-order at the website and grab and go if their time is tight --- or people can hang out and enjoy the company, the music and the conversations. Good Food will bring to campus fresh fruit and vegetable (including some of the highest nutrition delivery items), cage free eggs, local simple and exotic cheeses, on-farm butchered pastured meats (chicken, beef, pork, lamb), locally canned vegetables, relishes and chow chows, salsa, maple syrup, honey, granolas, organic flours and pancake mixes and more.

Who Participates?

The market is open to patients, staff, students, faculty and the visiting broader community. Students are welcome to volunteer for food shares and guest cooks are welcome to sample items and share recipes. Live acoustic music offered in exchange for food shares will also be solicited and welcome.

The Market will be open from 11 am to 1:30pm every Tuesday - on good weather days on the atrium (Busby Memorial Garden) of Nashville General and on wet and cold days inside the hospital lobby area.
