March 2020
A note from the desk of Mr. Thorvilson ...
Dear Families,
Thanks to YOU, spring conferences were a huge success. Your child has grown so much this year and it is fun to celebrate this growth. Thank you for making these conversations with your child's teacher a priority!
A special thanks to all of you for participating in Giving Hearts Day 2020! Our school's focus was to simply celebrate the spirit of giving. We aimed much of our attention the efforts of the GF Foundation for Education. Students at Staff at Winship donated over $900. As you may remember, each dollar was matched! Thank you, thank you for being so giving!
Please continue to encourage your child to read and to read books they love. As teachers and parents, this is one of the most important things we can do to help them grow. As we move closer and closer to spring, ignite or reignite those reading habits. I promise you, your child WANTS to be a great reader and a reader that can find books to fall in love with. If you need great book recommendations, please connect with your child's teacher or anyone in our school to learn more about some great books!
We are celebrating READING MONTH throughout March. March 17th is an especially fun day and we hope you'll join us at school from 1:00-3:00 pm for some exciting activities planned by our Literacy Committee! Look for details from your child's teacher regarding this special day!
Thank you to all of our 1st grade parents for attending the recent 1st grade Lunch and Learn Parent Meeting! We are so proud of our parents and our families. It was another great turnout! As you know, our school has committed to having a special parent meeting at each grade level again this year as a way to connect even more with our families. So far our teams have met with all but our 5th grade parents and we are looking forward to meeting with them later this year. Keep watch for further details from your child's teacher.
