GBE Summer Adventure 2019
June 3rd to June 28th
Welcome to GBE Summer Adventure for 2019:
We will be enjoying a fast paced and fun filled month together. Daily knowledge that you need for the day to day:
GBE has all incoming 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders.
Our doors open at 7:45 am and we do serve breakfast up to 8:10 each day.
Once students eat breakfast they will go to their classroom. The only day this differs is our first day of Summer Adventure.
One our first day we will all meet together in the gym for our "Welcome" time. Once the students enter the gym a teacher will help him or her to find their teacher. We will have class lists in hand to be sure everyone get to the right room.
After we are settled and do a "Welcome" teachers and students will head off to classrooms.
Our Dismissal at 1:00, will be the same as during the regular school year when following our procedures.
Please do be sure to keep your child's transportation the same as much as possible. Sudden changes or if not called in or a note sent from the parent, we will do what we have listed in the system from the original Summer Adventure application slip.
Walkers and Bike Riders will be walked across Gratz Brown Road. Car Riders will be dismissed from the Gym starting at 1:00-- our gates will not open until 12:55. This is for safety precautions and children being on the playground.
Bus Riders will be dismissed from the front of the building as we do during the normal school year.
I will include specific details for Car Riders for new parents to be for certain how our procedures work.
Day to Day Learning at Summer Adventure will be a Reading and Math focus with some elective and hands on learning in the afternoon for our students. Teachers will send home newsletters each week so you are up to date on what we are focused on that week.
Field trips will be taken this summer and we will send home ONE field trip permission form for the entire summer. The form will go home June 3rd and is due back by June 10th.
We will have up to three field trips this summer with one being out of town. Details will come home each week and before the Field Trips occur.
We are excited to have your student for the month of June, and look forward to some fun and learning!

Principal
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures at GBE for Summer Adventure:
To help with traffic congestion in the morning students will be dropped off using the same procedure as we utilize for dismissal. Please see the explanation below. Students being dropped off and picked up will follow a procedure to create a safer, more orderly environment for arrival/dismissal.
1. Cars or trucks should enter the south entrance of the GBE parking lot.
2. All vehicles should follow the lanes in the south parking lot leading to the gate to the playground.
3. The gate will be open for arrival at 7:45 to 8:05. We will open this earlier on the first day to allow for traffic. Any students arriving after 8:10 should be brought to the front door and will be considered tardy. At dismissal, the gate will remain closed up to 12:55 p.m. or until all students are in the building following our last recess. This is being done to ensure that all students are safe. While waiting is an inconvenience, please understand that student safety is our number one priority.
4. Vehicles waiting for the gate to open should form 3 lines around the south edge of the parking lot. Each line is numbered; 1, 2 and 3
5. Once the gate is open, all traffic should follow the fire lane around the back of GBE. 6 cars will be allowed through the gate at a time before the next line will move during dismissal. Generally, only one line is needed in the morning.
6. All patrons, including small children, should remain safely seated in vehicles. We do not want a child to be injured in traffic while playing on the playground. Please adhere to this rule to ensure safety.
7. Students will be dropped off at and dismissed from the gym doors. If possible, please have students exit on the driver’s side of the vehicle for safety of all students. For arrival, students will enter the gym and go to the cafeteria for breakfast or to go to their classroom. For dismissal, students waiting in the gym will be supervised by school staff and dismissed only to those authorized to pick the child up. This is for the safety of our students.
8. Vehicles will exit the gate at the north end of the parking lot and directly exit the school parking lot to the RIGHT (going north) to ensure that traffic flows.
9. Traffic will be halted to allow buses to leave and allow routes to stay on schedule.
Please refer to the arrival/dismissal map that can be picked up inside of GBE. We appreciate your cooperation as we work to provide the safest environment for your children.
