Lorenzo Walker Technical High School Mission "Purpose" Statement
Message from the Principal
Collier County Public Schools held its annual 5K fun run on December 2. Over 180 students and staff members sign-up to participate in the event. This is a fun event, which promotes community-wide health and wellness. It was fantastic to see the tremendous show of school spirit as we were able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather. We look forward to an even larger LWTHS crowd next year!
We do have quarterly testing upcoming on December 15, 18, 20, and 21 for our 9th and 10th graders. The 11th and 12th graders will be completing their quarterly testing on January 10 and 11. Please see the schedule below with the breakdown of when each period/block will be testing. Additionally, students enrolled in US History (this semester) will be completing their End-of-Course examination on December 19.
In preparation for the examinations, please ensure your student gets a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast on the day of the test. Many teachers report that students who don't do well on tests haven't gotten enough sleep, and haven't eaten breakfast on the morning of the test. Doing both of these things will ensure that your student is working at full capacity. Additionally, remain positive and calm as this will help your student stay calm. The students have received world-class instruction in preparation for the assessment(s) and this is their opportunity to show what they have learned.

“The HVAC and Refrigeration [class] is a very intense and comprehensive course in Air Conditioning and related systems. The course material is both knowledge based and hands on,” according to J. Barnett a current HVAC student. Barnett continued, “I like the fact that there is so much inter-action between teacher and students with real world applications for certifications, jobs, and expectations in the work place. There are a variety of projects, employer presentations, and on-the-job training type of activities to stimulate continued interest. I knew nothing when I came here but in the short time of one semester, I passed my EPA certification, studied the preparation courses for NATE certification, and am preparing to take the exams. I have learned enough to have confidence to install a new heat pump for my swimming pool with some help of my friends in class and with my instructor's guidance”.
