Great California Shakeout - October 17
Once again, the Corona-Norco Unified School District will be taking part in the Great California Shake Out, which is a statewide earthquake drill. The drill is scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2019. The District’s primary schools, secondary schools" and administrative offices will be participating. This activity will test our earthquake procedures. On October 17, 2019, our school will participate in the drill that will enable us to evaluate how prepared we are for a major earthquake.
The purpose is to discover areas where improvement is needed, raise the level of awareness among the students and staff, and stress the need to plan an effective response to emergencies. The drill will simulate a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which would cause severe and widespread destruction. The exercise will begin at 09:29 AM. Similarly, you can help prepare your family members for their own protection during emergencies at home.
Your chances of survival will be much higher if your family gets proper training and knows what to do should a crisis occur. If you desire further information on how to develop a family preparedness plan, contact the nearest American Red Cross that offers emergency preparedness course and materials. In a real emergency, remember that the school will keep the students and will only release the students to parents, guardians, or those listed on the emergency card at the designated reunification area.
Please inform the school if any information on your emergency card changes. If you have any questions about the earthquake drill or our emergency procedures, please contact us.
Thank you,
Santiago High School
