Angel Program Update
Saving Our School
Dear St. Ann School Families & Staff,
We made it! We wrapped up the 2020 portion of the school year and enjoyed many Christmas festivities. Our annual faculty Ugly Sweater competition, the #deckthedoors social media contest, Leaders Are Readers--Christmas Edition, the 8th Grade Hot Cocoa Party, Pajama Day, our Holiday Talent Show, the list goes on and on! Let’s not forget all of the learning and spiritual growth that happens on a daily basis. I’m so proud of all of us--students, teachers, and staff--for staying the course and making it through. Now we can relax and enjoy our families, even though this Christmas and New Years will be like no other before it and, hopefully, like none to follow!
We are very excited to report that we are more than halfway to our goal of $150,000 for the Angel Program! I want to personally thank all of the donors who have stepped up to contribute to the St. Ann Angel Program. We are fighting very hard to keep our school, and it’s so gratifying to know that so many of you are fighting right alongside us. But we still have a ways to go and are hoping that every single school family will contribute what they can to help us get there. If any of you know of someone else who also believes in our school, please send him or her our way as well. It’s not too late to make a donation and take advantage of year-end tax breaks, too.
When I was first named principal, I used to joke that being at St. Ann School was like traveling back in time to the fictional town of Mayberry: the school families, the parishioners, and the staff all make you feel like every stranger has a place at the table. We are truly a family here, and together we can do this! Here's a perfect example: The SAS Student Council recently sold raffle tickets for a candy tower, and they told us that they wanted the funds raised to go to the Angel Program to help save the school. Our students are invested; let’s make sure they ALL get to graduate from St. Ann for years to come!
Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a safe and happy new year.
St. Ann, pray for us!
Principal Eliza Gonzalez
Help Us Thank Our Donors!
We would like to send a personal thank you from the school to show how much our donors mean to us. So we are asking for a little help from our students. Could you and your children make a sign that says "Thank You, Angels," and then send us a photograph of them holding it up and smiling? It does not have to be fancy, only heartfelt. And if the whole family wants to be in the picture, that is fine too! We will make a photo collage of all thank you pictures that we receive by December 31.
Did you know that if you take the standard deduction (meaning you are not itemizing)
on your 2020 tax return (the one that you'll file in 2021), you can claim a brand new
"above-the-line" deduction of up to $300 for cash donations to charity you make
THIS YEAR (thanks to the CARES Act).
Donor Incentives!
Don't forget you can receive SAS swag for your Angel donation/pledge! $100 and up gets you hand sanitizer, $300 and up earns tumblers (this is a school-family special--outside donors have to pledge $1,000 to get one of these!). Special thanks goes to a current school family for producing and donating the incentives.
