SFCS celebrates 26 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
Happy Monday!
Today the students in grades 2nd through 8th will sit for the ARK (Assessment of Religious Knowledge) test. This is a computer-generated assessment on religious knowledge which will take 25-35 minutes depending on the grade level. Last year, the Diocese piloted the assessment in select schools and implemented the assessment this year throughout all the Diocesan schools.
Thank you to those who completed the parent survey. Exactly 50% of our families participated in the short survey. I am grateful for your comments shared which are helpful when planning for the 2023.2024 academic year. For those who commented on the need for parent-teacher conferences, those dates have already been released in the Master Calendar for 2023.24. Please scroll down to the "2023.24 Calendar" feature and click on the link.
On Friday we will have our 3rd Quarter Awards Presentation. Parents, family, and friends are invited to attend. The presentation will begin at 2:00 p.m.
The campus is busy preparing for Grandparents/Grandfriends Day on April 5. We are looking forward to welcoming this very special group to our Church and school. More information and details will be communicated later this week.
We have upped up the number of tickets for sale for the Salty Dog Sunset Cruise on April 29. Please be sure to purchase your tickets soon as they are limited. Please scroll down to the information on this event for details and the link.
Wishing you a peace-filled week of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
Blessings,
Andrea

St. Francis Catholic School Facebook Page
Our official Facebook page is "St. Francis Catholic School". In an effort to consolidate communication, and have one central Facebook page for SFCS families to find announcements and learn about upcoming school events, the "St. Francis Families (St. Francis Catholic School, Hilton Head Island)" Facebook page is now inactive. As a reminder, the use of St. Francis Catholic School, or St. Francis by the Sea names, logos, etc., must be approved before associating any group with either name or SFCS. We appreciate your cooperation and partnership with this important policy and ask you to contact Mrs. Smith for school related requests, and the SFBTS Parish office for church related requests. 3rd Grade - Reading
This past week, Mrs. Wolfkiel's 3rd Grade Class teamed up with Mrs. Burke's Pre-K class for our Reading Buddies program! The 3rd Grade enjoyed reading to the Pre-K students.
5th Grade - Religion
Mrs. Brewsterβs 5th Grade Religion Class has learned about the graces received through the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirt:
Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.
7th Grade - Science - The Human Body
The 7th grade science class recently studied the human body. Part of the unit involves measuring specific parts of a human and calculating the relationship between the two. For example, forensic scientists found that the relationship between the length of the arm span is very close to the height of an individual. This information can be used to determine both measurements even when scientists do not have data for a direct measurement for both. Students did a great job in acting as forensic scientists and found that their measurements were largely in agreement with the standards set by forensic scientists despite the fact that we had a much smaller data sample than forensic data bases.
Bake Club Bake Off!
The students in Bake Club participated in a Bake Off. The judges were Fr. Christopher and Mrs. Smith. The students worked hard to get the perfect tasting and best looking cookie. Since the students wanted to eat their creations, Fr. Christopher and Mrs. Smith were only able to judge the best looking cookie. Twenty of the best looking cookies were selected, then the cookie field was trimmed down to 10 cookies. From there, the top four best looking cookies were selected. Congratulations to the following students:
1st Place: Emma K.
2nd Place: Claire O.
3rd Place: Addison
4th Place: Logan
The students celebrated by eating their cookies! πͺ

Golfβ³
The SFCS Golf team hosted Riverview on Tuesday at the beautiful Sea Pines Country Club. The teams played a 6-hole, 2-man scramble format. It was a nail biterβ¦as the Saint Francis Wolves won their inaugural golf match by a team score of 93 to 94.
Congratulations to the Top SFCS team of Eleanor Breland and Liam Fisher who finished with team low score of 29!
All the golfers from both teams did an amazing job and had a blast! A big thanks to all of our parent volunteers with helping the kids on the course throughout the round, bringing snacks, and getting the kids to the course ready and on time. Congrats to Coaches OβRourke and Tylus on a job well done!!
