Week 32: Band-Demic
March 16-20
A Note From Your Directors
What an interesting time we are in right now! As you are being bombarded with messages and information we wanted to take time to let you know how much we appreciate you and your family. Thank you for keeping your family safe and for your flexibility as we navigate this uncharted territory of 'eLearning' in FISD.
As you can imagine, it is difficult to get the same results in performance based classes (like fine arts and athletics) without seeing the kids and interacting. We are continuing to have an evolving plan and will continue to send out information as needed. Moving forward, we would just encourage your child to still aim for 25-30 minutes of practice every day and please have them reach out to us if they have any questions.
Just so everyone is on the same page- below are the action steps we as a program are taking to communicate to our families and students.
- We will use the same format of eLearning lesson plans the entire school is using.
- We will continue to send a weekly smore- with direct links to our lesson plans as well as any general announcements we might have.
- We have added mailing lists for the students. This will give them direct access to the information they need including links, ideas of what to play, and assignments. Parents will not get this as everything will already be on the lesson plans- this will be just a more 'kid friendly' version.
- We are actively looking at ways to incorporate technology for playing together. It appears 'Zoom' cloud meetings may be coming your way as a way for us to still have some virtual time with your students. We are still researching the best way to do this and will update you soon.
Thank you,
-Mr. Wood, Ms. Hoffman, Mr. Seymour, & Mr. Martinez
eLearning Lesson Plans for Band-Demic Week 1
Ms. Hoffman's Classes- Honor, Concert, and Beginning Woodwind
Mr. Seymour's Classes- Advanced and Beginning Percussion
Note that SB and HB percussion students should still complete their UIL listening assignment.
Ms. Hoffman's Zoom Office Hours
Ms. Hoffman will have open Zoom Office hours beginning tomorrow morning from 9:30am-10:30am everyday during the week. No need to set up an appointment for this time, simply call using the Zoom number below. Please note that multiple people may be in the meeting at one time.
- This is a great time for quick questions for parents or students regarding the eLearning process and procedure.
- If you would like to set up a separate appointment then please email me at hoffmans@friscoisd.org.
- If it looks like I need to expand this time to more than 1 hour a day then I am happy to do so if it looks like 1 hour is not enough.
