NCVA Beacon Herald
Summer 2022
Our Mission
HOS Message
Hello Students and Parents/LCs,
The end is quickly approaching. Please make sure you have confirmed your child’s attendance to required end of the year state testing for end of grade, end of course, and CTE exams. Emails have been sent to families regarding location, date, and times of these tests and site coordinators have been reaching out to those that have not confirmed yet.
Starting next year, NCVA will be required to give NC check-ins in person according to the NC Department of Public Instruction. With the availability of vaccines for all school aged children and adults, school systems are to operate under normal conditions next year. This means that all 3-8 graders will have to appear at test sites to take the check-ins in person three times a year in addition to the end of year end of grade assessments. More information will come from the testing coordinators about the location, dates, and times of these check-ins once school starts back in the Fall.
I hope you have a safe summer break and look forward to seeing you next year!
In Partnership,
Marcia Simmons

Earn a free book through the Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program for kids in Grades 1-6.
Participation is a fun and easy way for kids to earn free books. They simply read a designated number of books – library books, books borrowed from friends or books bought at Barnes & Noble – write about their favorite part in our Reading Journal, and bring a completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore. Children then choose their free book from the books listed on the Reading Journal and collect their free book from a store near them during July and August.
