President's Post
November 2018
As we head into the holiday season I find myself excited about the 4th quarter visits with our Pastors. We’ve just begun our meetings and I find them so helpful for us Administrators in getting to know our pastors. We have a great group of pastors who are planning and carrying out their plans each quarter, making themselves more effective in the world of pastoral ministry.
One example is a new pastor named Darry Semillano. He is pastor of a three-church district consisting of Blue Angel, Milton and Fairhope. During the church service he showed a PowerPoint of all that the district has done in the last four months. I was so happy to see the involvement of our members. They held a district wide Sabbath where they all came together at Blue Angel. They invited me to be their guest speaker. Blue Angel under Pastor Darry’s leadership had put together 200 baskets of food with invitations to come and join them for a Sabbath service. The attendance was great for church and thirty members from all three churches stayed after potluck to deliver the baskets. A Sabbath to remember for sure!!
We ordained Pastor Roberto Solorzano at Birmingham 1st this month. The support that the Spanish churches gave Pastor Roberto was beautiful to see. I was honored that Pastor Roberto
asked me to speak at the ordination. He and his wife Silvana are a real blessing to our conference. We are bringing Pastor Cary Fry into the office to support Elder Danese by being Vice President of Pastoral Development. Elder Brian Danese remains our Treasurer and will continue with Vice President of Church Development. Brian’s plans will include visiting with local church boards and discussing the pastoral plans that the pastor with administrations guidance have put together. We see this as the next step to all of us getting into the Lord’s work together. Something that hasn’t been done before. We are so excited about the possibilities of all of us buying into a series of plans that will bring glory and honor to our Lord and Savior. I feel like standing up and shouting “Praise the Lord!!” This organizing for success is so overdue!
I love Thanksgiving, I pray you had time set a part for some nice family time. During the Holidays I miss my Mom and my brothers the most. Wish all of you a blessed Holiday Season
Until next time,
Dave

What is a Town Hall Meeting?
A town hall meeting is an opportunity to share a mid-term report from the elected leaders of our conference. To learn more about the quinquennial term and the constituency session held at each start of the term, read the article from Elder Fancher (page 8) in the latest GSC Today.
