Happy New Year!
State Map Reward
We received a state map from Scott Falvey in the beginning of the year. We use it as an Incentive map. We have earned all 50 states by walking quietly in the halls, doing good deeds, and by getting compliments from other teachers. This is what we do to earn a reward such as a movie.
Writing
In the past, our class has been working hard on a snowflake story. There are many elements of writing an interesting story. The first thing we mastered was the entertaining beginnings. Many great writers want to grab the readerś attention, so they use entertaining beginnings. Our stories are narrative stories. That means it is told by a person, in this case us. Next, we worked on red flag words. A red flag word or phrase is a part of suspense. For example, ¨suddenly” is a red flag word. ¨In a blink of an eye¨ is a red flag phrase. Finally, it has come to an end, and we have got to the satisfying endings. There are many techniques to master this skill. For instance, a memory or a wish would be a satisfying ending. It was long and tiring, but we enjoyed it!
Technology
Every Wednesday we go to computer lab. We also have Chromebooks. (Also known as a laptop). Here are some of the things that we do. Haiku Deck and Typing Agent.we do a lot more but that is all we can say. Typing agent is a website that helps the students type faster. Haiku deck is a website where we make slideshows. That is our tech report.

Social Studies
We are going to read the fourth chapter in our Social Studies book called The Pilgrims. The Pilgrims are people who wanted freedom from the king. But if you had freedom you would go to jail, even they would get their heads chopped off and die. After saying goodbye to their loved ones the Pilgrims boarded a ship called The Mayflower they began a very long journey. On The Mayflower only two people died one was a servant and the other was a sailor. One baby was born on the ship his name was Oceanus Hopkins.
