Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the PTO
Dear Lions Park Families,
We hope you have all had a chance to enjoy the Winter Wonderland that we have outside before the cold temperatures came in. The PTO has been so excited to have hosted some really fun events over the past few months and we are looking forward to some exciting events still to come. While we were all disappointed about the cancellation of our McTeacher Night at McDonald’s (and having to cook dinner!), due to the weather we are looking forward to our rescheduled date of Wednesday April, 5th. More details will be forthcoming!
This month, we are looking forward to our classroom Valentine’s Day parties. This is an annual
tradition at Lions Park and the kids always have tons of fun. Thank you in advance to all of our
wonderful room reps for always making these events so memorable and special for our kiddos. We are also thrilled about Pawlooza! The talent show will be held on Wednesday, March 1st at 6:30 PM for friends and family and also on Thursday, March 2nd at 1:00 PM for the whole school. We can’t wait to see all of our talented kids perform!
The PTO is looking for volunteers for the 2023-2024 school year. Our board will have openings for a co-president and a co- vice president next year. We are always looking for new faces to come join us. If you are interested in a board position or chairing a committee next year, please reach out to Mallory Reyes or Morgan Tone. We look forward to working together with you!
Our next PTO meeting will be held via Zoom. We would love to have parents come and find out more about PTO related events and future volunteer opportunities.
Next PTO Meeting: Monday February 6, 2023 at 8 pm

Parent Check In
District 57 will be offering targeted opportunities for parents and teachers/service providers to check in during the month of February. Our district encourages ongoing two way communication between our staff and families. In addition to emails, phone calls and meetings as needed throughout the year, we hold parent and teacher conferences with all families in October and November. New this year, we will be offering check-ins on an as needed basis during the month of February. These will be different from conferences in that there will not be a full presentation about your child. You will indicate a topic you wish to discuss or questions you have for the teacher or related service provider. There is less time allocated than for fall conferences, so depending upon the level of interest, available time will be prioritized based on student needs. Check-ins may be done over the phone, via Zoom or at an in-person meeting. Please don’t feel obligated to check in, but you are welcome to request a time with a staff member if you have a particular topic to discuss. In middle school, unlike this fall, conferences will be with an individual teacher rather than the team.
If you are interested in having a check-in with any certified staff member, please fill out this form by Friday, February 3rd. You can translate the page for the sign up form using your browser. To translate the sign up form into another language, right-click anywhere in the Google Form and select the Translate to Language option. Please fill out a separate form for each check-in you are requesting. For example, if you have two children at Lions Park and you wish to talk with one child’s homeroom teacher and the other child’s art teacher and social worker, you would fill out three forms. You will then be contacted to schedule a time to talk with the teacher or related service provider. Staff may schedule meetings/calls before school, during their planning time, lunch hour or after school. Feel free to follow up if you don’t hear anything by Friday, February 10th.
