We will have a special presentation by the Gaston County Museum of Art & History on Tuesday, April 15 (2:30-4:00), Victorian Amusements & Play. Our students will get to play Victorian-era games and learn what it was like to be a child then. Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to play!!

Opportunities with Cherryville Historical Museum

"Why I Love History" Essay Contest (Hurry... Deadline this Week!)

Cherryville Historical Museum is offering a special Cherry Blossom Festival essay contest. Students may write a short essay (maximum of one page) about why they love history. Essays must be received at the museum by Saturday, April 12. They are only open on Saturdays from 10am-2pm, so keep that in mind if you plan to drop off the essays yourself. Students may also turn in essays to Mrs. Heavner by Friday, April 11th for her to take to the museum. 1st place prize: $5, 2nd place: $4, 3rd place: $3

Race Car Madness!!

Former race car driver, Ned Jarrett, and his race car will be appearing at the Cherryville Historical Museum during the Cherry Blossom Festival on April 26, 2014 from 10:00-10:45. There will also be children's race cars to try out!!

April 26 Civil War Day

11:30AM- 2:30PM FREE ADMISSION

Come join us as we remember those that served through the Civil War, both for the Union and the Confederacy. This living history event will include military drills, musket firing demonstrations, camp life displays, and activities to help everyone understand what life was like for those that served during the War Between the States.

May 10 Mother's Day Tea

11:30AM $15 per Adult/ $10 per Child


The museum is hosting a Mother’s Day Tea for ages 5-up. Costumed staff will deliver a short program on the history of tea drinking and leisure activities of the 19th century. Participants will partake in a tea party complete with fresh brewed tea, lemonade, finger sandwiches, pastries, and other savory offerings. While dressing up is not required, it is encouraged. There will be a hat contest at the conclusion of the program!

May 24 Family Fun Day

11:30AM- 2:30PM FREE ADMISSION


Please join us for our 10th Annual Family Fun Day. In addition to visiting the museum, families can sample free ice cream, take a carriage ride for $5 per person, make fun crafts in the Museum, and play historic games on the back lawn. Also, this year we will have three storytellers providing wonderful and fun stories throughout the day. These storytellers will demonstrate different styles including Appalachian Jack Tales, Native American Folk Tales, and even some puppetry.
