Creating an Innovative Future
I want to invite you to be a part of the exciting strategic planning process that Waxahachie ISD will start in November. This plan will guide the district's decisions for the next five years as we Create an Innovative Future for our students and community.
We need your input in order for the process to be successful. We are asking for participation form all stakeholders - parents, community members, WISD employees and students - to provide a clear , community-focused direction as to what our community needs and wants. Wee want to know your highest hopes and dreams for our students and community so that we can plan to meet those goals.
I invite you to join us at one of the three forums to learn ore about the development of WISD's Strategic Plan and provide your feedback. These forums will be as follows:
- Thursday, November 10 - 6:00-8:00 pm - Waxahachie Ninth Grade Academy - 275 Indian Drive
- Tuesday, November 15 - 11:30am -1:30 pm - Turner Professional Learning Center, 614 N. Getzendaner (lunch will be provided)
- Tuesday, November 15 - 6:00-8:00 pm - Waxahachie High School Cafeteria, 1000 Hwy 77 North
For more information, please visit our website at www.wisd.org or call Laurie Navarro at 972-923-4631. All forums will be available in both English and Spanish.
I look forward to seeing you at one of the forums and appreciate your time in helping WISD Create an Innnovative Future for the students and the community.
Sincerely,
Jeremy K. Glenn, Ed. D.
Note - Mrs. Burkhalter would like to see Shackelford represented at these meetings. If you can attend one, please do!
Election Day Activities
You may use your conference time or leave as soon as students are gone so that you may exercise your civic duty to vote. We have two mock elections running this week...
Canned Food Drive - The Woodsmen of the World canned food drive will conclude on Tuesday. Students may continue bringing canned food items to vote through Tuesday. Each canned food item a student brings counts as one vote, so a student may vote multiple times in this contest.
Voting Day Mock Election in the Library - Students in all classes will participate in a mock election in the library. At your designated time, please bring your class to the library. Voting stations will be set up and students will cast their vote on a Google Form and ipad. In this contest, each student gets one vote. A winner will be announced at the end of the school day. Please follow the schedule below for going to the library to vote on Tuesday, 11/8.
