Keeping the Best Teachers & Staff in Bastrop ISD!

At the board meeting on May 17, the Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees adopted a $117M budget for the 22-23 school year that will include an increase to the starting salary of new teachers to $53,000. The Board also approved a compensation plan that will provide pay increases of 7% for paraprofessionals, 4% for teachers/nurses/librarians, and 3% for other employees. In addition, one-time retention incentives will reward staff who have remained committed to Bastrop ISD. Employees with 12+ consecutive years in BISD will receive $2,000. Those with 6-11 consecutive years will receive $1,500. And those with 1-5 consecutive years will receive $1,000.

The combined raise and retention incentive provide our paraprofessionals with an average 11% pay increase and teachers/nurses/librarians an average 7.22% pay increase! The Board also approved providing employee-only health insurance at no cost to employees and a cash incentive that could provide an additional $1,100 per year for staff who have perfect attendance.

We appreciate the support and leadership of our school board trustees in helping us recruit and retain the very best teachers and other staff that we possibly can! #WeAreBISD
