Thanksgiving Holiday Break - Student & Staff Holiday
Monday, November 23rd - Friday, November 27th
School resumes on Monday, November 30th leaving only three weeks before the 2nd 9-week semester ends on Friday, December 18th. It is important that students stay current with their assignments and to seek out help as needed. Academic tutoring is available via Harmon Help or by individual teacher tutoring.
PATHWAY CHANGES & TRANSFER WINDOW
2021-22 TRANSFER WINDOW
LISD allows families to request a transfer to a school of choice for the following school year. School to school transfers are not allowed during the year. The first opportunity to request a transfer for the 2021-2022 school year will be from Nov. 18 until Dec. 4 during our Early Fall Transfer Window. You can learn more at https://www.lisd.net/transfer.
3RD NINE WEEKS LEARNING PATHWAY CHANGES
Beginning Monday, Nov. 16, families may change their student’s learning pathway using the learning pathway change form found in your Skyward Family Access account. You only need to access and submit this form if you are wanting to change your learning pathway for the 3rd 9-week grading period, which begins on Jan. 7. Your change must be made by Dec. 4, two weeks prior to the start of winter break. If you do not complete the form, your child will continue in their current learning pathway.
As a reminder students in grades 6-12 have three learning pathway choices. Learn more about each choice:
We appreciate your understanding that due to the upcoming Winter Break our staff must have time to process changes and prepare for having schedules finalized when they return to work on Jan. 6. We are pleased to offer our families the opportunity to change the learning pathway each nine weeks, but with providing this choice comes a significant amount of reworking the master schedule which takes time.
We want to make you aware that TEA recently increased flexibility for school districts to discontinue virtual learning for students who are not being academically successful. If your student is failing one or more of their virtual classes or has unexcused absences the campus may be contacting you about the process to return to in-person instruction.
FAQs
We have compiled a list of FAQs to help you be informed when making your learning pathway decisions. Please review this document carefully before directing any questions to your campus.
SCHEDULES
Important information to consider as it relates to schedules:
- If you change from one pathway to another, you can expect for your student’s schedule and their teachers to change, and it is possible the actual courses your child is enrolled in may change.
- Submitting your pathway change request as early in the window as possible will help your campus as they try to accommodate the changes.
- Class changes will be made based on what classes are available and have space for additional students. There is not an opportunity for specific schedule requests.
- While our counselors strive for great customer service, they will not be able to respond to requests for information about what your child's schedule could be should you change your learning pathway. The campus administration will rebuild the campus schedule based on the pathway change requests, and schedule information will not be available until after that process is completed.
- Due to the complexity of scheduling students at the middle school and high school level, until all learning pathway change forms are completed, it is not possible for campuses to determine which classes may be available.
The next opportunity to change your student’s learning pathway (for the 4th 9-week grading period) will be at the end of the 3rd 9-week grading period. The window for the 4th nine weeks change will open in February. Changes outside of the established windows will not be made.
TECHNICAL HELP
Some common technical issues and answers for you:
Harmon's Christmas Coin Drop Fundraiser
The BIC Social Skills class is starting a coin drop fundraiser on Monday. Our goal is to raise enough money to buy turkeys to help feed 10 families this Christmas. This is a project the students came up with on how they can impact their community.
On Monday, during 4th period, these students will be delivering buckets to each classroom to collect loose change. This fundraiser will last until December 4th.

Harmon Help - Harmon's Academic Tutoring Program
Harmon Help is an after school tutoring program on Tuesday through Wednesday each week. We want students to take full advantage of this time with teachers to ensure they are focused and present long enough to make strides in their academic progress.
- Students that self-refer may leave when they have transportation (min of 30 min) or they can stay and catch the bus but must still continue to work
- Students that are referred by a teacher must stay for the entire tutoring time 4:15-5:45 regardless of how they get home.
Bus Transportation
If your student is attending Harmon Help after school Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays there is bus transportation available to get them home.
Parent Pick Up
If you are planning to pick your student up we ask that you drive around to the back of LHS Harmon that faces Old Orchard/Dixon Lane and not pick them up before 5:45pm.

COVID Case Tracker
We have received many questions about lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases and how the district is tracking and reporting this information. Tracking these numbers and keeping them accurate and up-to-date is not an automated process or system. We are doing our best to keep our families informed, while also being as accurate as possible in our reporting. We thank you for your patience and grace as we have worked through some of the kinks throughout the first three weeks of in-person learning. Please know that we absolutely understand decisions about learning pathways rely a great deal on what our case numbers look like on our campuses.
With that said, we wanted to let you know that as of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, the number of lab-confirmed ACTIVE COVID-19 cases on our campus is 1. We also wanted to let you know beginning Oct. 12, the district will report ACTIVE lab-confirmed cases on a DAILY basis at LISD.net/COVIDtracker. Daily case numbers will be collected starting at 4 p.m. each day, and will be updated on the website the following day by 10 a.m.
Quarantine Periods
We have received several inquiries from families about contact tracing and quarantine periods. While we understand this process might be confusing or even frustrating for some, we want to assure you that we are following Denton County Health Department and CDC guidelines and recommendations when it comes to who is quarantining and for how long. The Texas Medical Association has put together a helpful flowchart that may answer some of your questions or concerns. Please know, LISD’s top priority continues to be the health and safety of our 50,000 students and 6,000 staff members.
